South Carolina is getting close: Bush 50% Kerry 44%
I just saw this on Daily Kos. He listed the trends:
July 53-36 Bush
August 52-43 Bush
Sept 17--50-44 Bush

Why? Kos thinks it is tightening due to the troubles GOP Senate candidate DeMint is having over once proposing a 24% sales tax. The DSCC has been showing a very "effective" ad. Also, SC lost lots of jobs under Bush.

http://www.dailykos.com/

P.S.
Rasumssen becomes the third poll in a week to give Bush only a one-point lead in Colorado, 46-45.

4. SC is looking better than NC
at this point. I think Edwards should come into his birth state.

14. Yeah, Edwards hurts us in NC ironcially
He did great in the South Carolina primary though and after all, South Carolina is his home state.

5. Even if Kerry closes Gore's 2000 gaps in the red states....
they will bring us more votes nationally and give us a bigger mandate.

7. It's Bizarro World
Kerry only leading in New York by 7, and Bush only leading in South Carolina by 6 (both according to Rasmussen).

Very Weird!!!

9. Kerry polling as well in SC as he is in NJ?
No sir, I don't buy the results in either state. Just proof that there's a lot of shitty polling out there.

11. If you need evidence
That should do for you. Our efforts are having an effect. Keep up the good work! Get folks registered. Talk up the ISSUES, not the personalities. And make people promise you they will get to the polls.

12. Don't believe this any more than I believe Bush is close in NY
As an earlier poster suggested, I don't think we can trust too many of these state polls. They are all over the map.

13. Aye eye eye
(that can't be the right way to spell that, can it?)

Yes, the Inez ads are very effective. DeMint is on his third ad, I think, in trying to respond. You can almost feel his support slipping away. Inez is in the driver's seat.

I believe I would need medical attention if Kerry took SC, but I gotta say, I'm seeing just as many Kerry/Edwards stickers here in the Charelston area as I am those "w" ones.

This is really, really good news.

Also, there was a recent poll that I posted that had Inez within 3% pts of DeMint. This was last week. A few weeks ago, DeMint led by 11%. I wouldn't be surprised if Inez is leading at this point.

Peak at the right time, peak at the right time....

15. Holy Crap! I live in SC and had no idea it was that close here!
:bounce: I still don't know how DeMint is doing as well against Inez Tennanbaum as he is, considering he's running a commercial that says he wants a tax code that will fit on a single piece of paper! Yes, that's what the dumbass is running here in this state. And yes, our state has had tons of plant closings and layoffs over the past four years.

17. Make that two of us. In fact...
Unless sentiment is radically shifting in the upstate and low country then I've got to call BS on the source of these numbers.

IMO, DeMint is doing well because SC bleeds red for Bush and Repubs. He's got a 25% cushion because there's an "R" behind his name.

19. From your mouth to God's ears. . .
But I'll believe it when I see it. I was driving to Columbia last week on I-20 and this piece of shit Chevy was in front of me with all sorts of Jesus stickers, including a huge "portrait" of Jesus in the back window, etc. Whatever, you know, another right-wing Jesus freak for W. Anyway, I passed the car, but later it came up on my right side and they passenger and driver just about broke their necks staring at me. It was then that it occurred to me that they were no doubt giving me the "evil eye" for the two Kerry/Edwards stickers I've got on my car. Real Christian-like weren't they? I'm surprised they didn't try to run me off the road the way they were looking at me! Later though, in Columbia, a woman stopped me as I was getting out of my car and was just utterly delighted I had a Kerry/Edwards sticker and we talked about the race for about 10 minutes in the parking lot. So far in my hometown, I've seen exactly two other cars with K/E stickers on them. That's it. Everything else is W.

20. Look if Kerry takes EITHER SC or my state of Oklahoma...
I will ride my daughter's tricycle backwards down my street wearing a bra, a jockstrap over my face, a mop wig, and bunny slippers, while singing "They're coming to take me away, haha!" And I'll look cheerful doing so, because I'll know that * had just lost in a historic landslide.

I'll even post pics here at DU. Hey, a few lurking Repugs might just vote for Kerry just to see my pics. Well, "bring it on!"

I'm not blowing this info off...it just might happen.
