We had a scene at my little Town Hall today. What's going on nationally |
|
most certainly fueled it. Woman comes in to pay her license fee for her 2 dogs and she has a late fee on top of the license fee. She is irate, yelling and screaming, calling the person in the Town Clerk's Office a "piece of shit". The Fire Chief happens to be in the office and steps up and very nicely asks her to calm down. She calls him a piece of shit and says "who the hell are you...just a shitty fireman".
Now, I am convinced that this woman got permission to abuse the clerk and the Fire Chief because of what she has seen on TV these last few weeks. Anything does...any behavior, no matter how abusive and barbaric is acceptable.
Meanwhile the Fire Chief, a wonderful, good humored guy, is shaking his head saying "I'll be she wouldn't think that way about me if her house was on fire".
This is what we've gotten to. :-(

I thought we were all in this together or something...? oh, yeah...not for those whose primary MO is "divide & conquer"
so sad...I've even had older folks lately make snide and downright rude comments about my obama stickers on my car at the grocery store... i almost feel more afraid NOW about being open about my liberalism than during the election...

2. There's no doubt discourse in this country is circling the bowl. |
|
That fireman handled the situation very well, though. I guess one shouldn't take that type of thing personally. People are stressed out, and it's not like the tv and radio talking heads are setting a fine example of what intelligent, civilized discussion and debate look like.

5. Imagine though, how hard it must have been for the FC to hear that. |
|
These guys are on call 24/7. They are up 2 or 3 times in the middle of the night. They risk their lives and we can't give them enough respect or pay for what they do. Very sad.

8. Could she just have been one of your town's usual garden variety crazies? |

We have them here, people who are just a bit unstable to start with, and their ability to handle frustration is very low to nonexistent. As their problems mount, they tend to blow up all over the place because they can't handle the same amount of stress that others can.
That aside, those were absolutely shitty comments to make if this was just an ordinary person choosing act low IQ and no longer exercise the self control they still possess. I see lots of that here too.

16. She gives the garden variety crazies a bad name then! |
|
Well, tried to find a reasonable excuse for her behavior, but failed there:) In that case, to hell with her and this national craze that must be infecting her brain. My dad was a fireman; my farrier is a fireman, and your fire chief is a really nice man to absorb her nastiness is all I can say.
On behalf of the fireman I know, I will say she is a shitty human being!

10. Raven, abuse here is worse since they has a little tea party |
|
and I didn't go. ;) Blood pressure is 198 over 120 today because of the latest episode.
I am doing what I always have done, but it has become pretty nasty since they had a party. People do think they have the right to abuse.
Looking for a cave to move into. Want I should look for one for you too?

14. Used to think so. Now, as they see the total failure of the birther issue they pinned hope to... |
|
Nah, they aren't gonna stop whining. It has worked for them for too long to give up on the tactic.

17. there are a lot of people |
|
ignorant people, who take their anger out on public employees. My sister worked in a state office that licenses contractors, electricians and plumbers. They now have to have a full time armed state patrol man or womann near ther front desk because some were threatening violence over having to have ID, a license, paying taxes and fees etc., having to follow an "illegitimate constitution" in this country. There are lots of nuts who are getting their fires lit by the discourse we have ssen lately. The bar is pretty low for acceptable social behavior these days.
