If they cannot confirm the source and the chain of custody, they cannot vouch for the authenticity of the document. That's very different than believing that the document is not authentic.

they don't know where the documents came from, they don't know if the records have been tampered with, and they don't know whether this type of print existed 30 years ago!
They would love to continue discussing these documents until the election.
