8. He said breaking news from Charlie Cook |
|
says the democrats are going to lose big next year....a little early wouldn't ya think? Hey, maybe this little bit of news might make some people wake up and see that if the dems LET the GOP kill meaningful HCR then THEY will be the ones sent back to their Blue Dog districts to whittle on their front porches with corn cob pipes in their rocking chairs. pass HCR and they might just be allowed to continue getting that sweet health care package that the government provides.

I think there's very little chance that we will lose Congress in 2010. The political climate is really very different now than it was in 1994. In 1994, the Republican Party's approval ratings were not in the toilet. The ghost of Ronald Reagan was much more powerful then. Whereas Clinton followed Bush I, Obama follows one of the least popular politicians in American history, Bush II. Clinton was elected with less than 50% of the popular vote. Obama was elected with well over 50% of the popular vote. The religious right had not completely taken over the Republican Party then. Now, Republican politicians are generally insane, reflecting their rabid base.
I think Obama blew his first chance at health care reform by pushing for a weak plan. I think he should table the idea, for now, and push for single payer in 2011. The current system is unsustainable, and everyone knows it. Change will come. Let's not settle for a bailout of the insurance industry. Let's insist on the eradication of it.
I expect the Democratic Party will pick up 3 seats in the Senate and between 3-6 seats in the House UNLESS Congress passes a disastrous "insurance reform" bill. At this point, I would rather do nothing than to pass any of the bills under consideration in Congress.

7. It's like when the media call elections before the polls close. It really |
|
affects what people think and do and winds up skewing the outcome. I feel sure that could happen in this case. People who would like to see some serious health care reform put into place might give up going to town halls or writing and calling their congress critters and the President all because they have been told that it is hopeless. And because fewer people speak out it is assumed that the reform isn't wanted and then presto no change-o, what Matthews and others have said has come true.

Remember this guy said Hillary would be the nominee,Mccain had Ohio In the bag and Mccain could win PA.
I urge people to not stress about 2010 yet.We won 6 seats In 2006 yet back In 2005 polls showed us winning only In PA.We won 8 seats In 2008 yet In 2007 polls only showed 3 or 4.Ask Ted Stevens Norm Coleman,Gordon Smith, and Elizabeth Dole how things can change.
Barack Obama Is Ins tronger postion than Bill Clinton was at this time.Don't forget you had a stronger Republican party.George Bush was rejected not Republicans. They actully picked up seats In 1992.Congress was at a all time low.And It's leaders were considered corrupt.Compare numbers between Pelosi and Bohner, and Reid and Mcconnell. While none are as well thought of as Obama Pelosi and Reid have better numbers than Bohner and Mcconnell.
The last time Congress quickly turned over was back In 1954 and sorry Bohner and Mcconnell are not In the league of Sam Rayburn and Lyndon Johnson.
If your a Conservative Democrat In a district Mccain won your In danger of losing but Republicans In Obama districts have need to be worried.Remember Gillibrand's district.Although Republican leaning It did go for Obama, and elected a democrat In the special election.
As for the Senate Dodd Is In danger of losing, and Lincoln In Arkansas could have trouble considering the antiObama feeling In the south, and the appointed seat to pay attention to Is Bennent In Colorado not Illinois or Delaware. We good good shots at winning seats In Missouri and Ohio.NH Is also a possable pickup.Too early to say what will happened to Kentuckey,NC,and special election In Texas.

...who kept on blathering "When will Obama close the deal? When will Obama close the deal?" He spewed that incessantly during the primaries AND during the general election. Now, I'm hearing him spew it over health care. Sure, Tweety got in a few good licks lately, but you know that old saying about broken clocks...

|
Who here ever took The Jerry Springer show seriously? If you say yes, then I'd believe you would take Tweets seriously. I watch him for political catfights over stupidity and his slobbering over topics---he entertains me. If you take him as pure entertainment he's far more interesting. If you watch his show when Lawrence O'Donnell is hosting, then you might learn something. Otherwise...no need to waste the energy. I certainly don't.

In the summer of 2004 anyone with half a brain knew that the terror threats were political. The weekend after the Democratic convention, when we should have been basking in the glory of it they shut down NYC with threats. AND....Tweety was reporting it. Never questioned it...just went along and repeated the lies.

I love Tweety, but he's a moderate. |
|
He described himself that way on his show yesterday, saying (in re. of healthcare, especially) that he wants his country to progress, but he wants it to hold together. The problem with that is he takes the latter to an obsession, which leads him to cave when conservatives act thuggish, while he's assuming that he's making reasonable concessions to reasonable people.
