John Kerry made a great speech |
|
I love this line:
"It is never easy to discuss what has gone wrong while our troops are in constant danger. But it’s essential if we want to correct our course and do what’s right for our troops instead of repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
I know this dilemma first-hand. After serving in war, I returned home to offer my own personal voice of dissent. I did so because I believed strongly that we owed it those risking their lives to speak truth to power. We still do."
As a veteran who has served in combat this is statement speaks directly to the me. We owe it to the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan to let them know that we understand the problems that they are facing.

3. He said everything that everyone knows is true |
|
Just laid it out, point by point.
It's utterly devastating. The other side is desperately clinging to their delusions, and that is our real problem now. How to break through the psychological defenses that cause them to squeeze their eyes shut like kids afraid of monsters in the closet.
There really are monsters in the closet, and they know it. So they close their eyes and pretend, instead of getting out from under the covers and facing the monsters they created themselves.
