Here is an update on the Beck ad boycott from Media Matters--Red Lobster & Vonage are holdouts
Or at least seem to be two of the bigger advertisers who have not yet committed to stop advertising on Beck.

Here is the contact page for Red Lobster: <https://www.redlobster.com/contact_us/Default.asp?>

Here is the toll free number to contact Vonage: 1-800-486-6037

Pass it on!

2. I wouldn't "boycott" Red Lobster since I would never eat there in the first place.
Life is too short to eat BAD AMERICAN FOOD.

6. I like it and have chosen to go there when I can -- but no more until they pull their Beck ads. .
And I told them so.

I don't use Vonage, however -- in fact, get my cell service from a much-more progressive firm: Credo.

8. There are pretty good seafood restaurants here in New England.
As a matter of fact, I don't think we even have a RL in our area.

9. They had the (gall? ignorance?) to open up one in Augusta, Maine
Didn't take long before it closed and reopened as an Olive Garden.

18. I liked the interior layout of that restaurant
I do miss their garlic rolls. Haven't set foot in one in at least 15 years I think. The regional Weathervane chain seems to be fulfilling the role of Red Lobster in New England for providing boring and expensive seafood dishes.

20. Okay, here's the deal. You don't have to tell them that part.
Got it? Just tell them you won't eat there as long as they are supporting Beck. Just don't mention the part that you won't eat there after they quit advertising either.

3. done here is what I wrote.
Currently RL is advertising on the Glenn Beck show.

Mr. Beck has for months been promoting the most hate filled lies about the President and the administration. On a nightly basis he rails about bringing back America to 'real Americans'.

He calls the President racist and implies that the situation is so dire that violence may be necessary to return the country to its 'purity'.

Does Red Lobster really want to be the only national advertiser still supporting this man?

http://mediamatters.org/blog/200908240127 .

If violence occurs and somebody makes an attempt on the life of the President because they have been motivated by the lies of Beck does Red Lobster really want to be associated with that?

Until you make your position clear we will not be visiting Red Lobster again

7. Nutri-System has bailed
and to be real honest, I wish they'd leave cable, period. I am sooooo sick of seeing Dan Marino and the blonde bimbo throwin' him the football. Believe I have their menu memorized.

But, back to subject - I hope this boycott effort truly has legs and affects all Fox programming.

13. If they're merely shifting their advertising from Beck to other FAUX shows, it does no good
We need to put pressure on these advertisers to stop advertising on FOX completely.

22. It hurts Fox quite a bit too. Read my post just below to understand why,
(I learned this by reading an industry journal).

21. Well I do agree that it would be better to stop but it absolutely does make a big difference: why?
Beck does get extremely good ratings--in fact, if I remember he is at least in the top 3 shows (gag me with a maggot).

Thus, since there are only so many hours in a day there comes a point at which enough of the advertising cannot be shifted into other spots (there are only so many advertising minutes in a day). If you want to take the example to an unrealistic extreme maybe this can show my point. Say Fox starts to have to show Beck without advertisers. There were 24 hours subject to ad sales, now there are 23. That is a hit on revenue, no two ways about it.

Here is the other way it really hurts: because the ads are necessarily being shifted from a highly rated show into some lower rated show this causes Beck to become a much bigger financial drag on the network. Ad rates are determined by viewership--when the ads get switched to a much lower watched shoe the revenue can go down, sometimes quite steeply.

And finally the last way it makes a very dramatic difference: As the big advertisers, capable of paying the big bucks, slides away, it becomes harder bordering on impossible to find the types of advertisers that can afford to pay Fox rates and then Fox has to lower the rates for those advertisers to get ANYBODY. This also kills revenue.

Anyway you slice it, it's a lose/lose/lose for Fox, and a victory, if only slight, for decency.
