Bush and Kerry to have three debates |
|
Drudge is reporting this. Washington Post says it is a tentative agreement. No WP link yet.
First debate is Sept. 30 in Florida on foreign policy issues.
The second is Oct. 8 in Missiouri in a town hall format with questions from undecided voters.
The third is in Arizona on domestic issues on Oct. 13.

1. BBBBut what if someone actually questions Bush in the town hall debate? |
|
We can't have that now. We're in a war and you can't question a war president!

If this is true, it means Rove's internal polls are in trouble.

7. Or they're just trying to lower expectations for Bush - |
|
Hoping everyone will say - "ooh, Bush is SO SCARED!" Kerry's gonna KILL HIM in a debate!" And then if Bush shows up and doesn't wet his diapers on air, he'll be declared the winner.

I'll feel a lot better when I see it from a news source other than from some guy who worked in the CBS gift shop for 5-6 years.

9. There's no way the chimp |
|
is going to take a question from an undecided voter at a Town Hall Meeting. It's not gonna happen. I bet the agreement that was made was the chimp handlers would hand out questions to "invited--oath signing" people ONLY. An unscripted TH meeting???? NO WAY! The chimp is too stupid. His handlers would never agree to that. IMCPO. :hi:

10. They are awfully close together. |
|
I believe it now that I looked at the link, but don;t know what to make of the fact that they are all essentially squeezed into a 2 week period.

11. The fact remains . . . |
|
that Bush tried to chicken out of at least one, possibly two, of the debates. The reason he did not succeed is because Kerry firmly held his ground on the matter.
Now there's the question of Bushco trying to SCRIPT the debates, and the problem of the media spinning the debate as they did the Bush/Gore debates. How do we neutralize those threats? We need realistic answers, and we need them now.

12. Rove's betting the election is going to be close... |
|
And he doesn't want to only have two debates and possible lose one or both of them. Having three is a way of better evening things out.

14. Am I the only one still amazed....(m) |
|
that there are undecided voters? I can't think of anyone who would be qualified to ask questions at the MO town hall format. My world is so polarized, the word undecided has to do with what you want for dinner, not for whom you're voting.

17. We should wait for the other shie to drop before we jump with joy |
|
Will the town hall questions be submittted in advance? (If Kerry agreed to that he's a dope, let bush charm a live audience with asnweres written by people with a brain?) Will they all be seated? Will there be no direct questioning of eachother? Will Kerry have to be injected with a powerful opiate/barbituate comnbination immediately prior to the debate?
