Cheney, Bush, and "Keeping America Safe"
I remember the first time I heard Bush proclaim that his "first duty is to protect the lives of the American people". And I wondered why I couldn't recall having been taught that little gem back in high school civics. Even today, Dick Cheney uses the very same excuse to justify, well, just about everything from domestic spying to torturing prisoners.

Putting aside for a moment that if, in fact, protecting American lives was their goal, Bush and Cheney failed on a monumental scale, where did they get the idea that that was their job in the first place?

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

THAT was the oath they took. To protect and defend, not American lives, but the U.S. Constitution!

Has any journalist anywhere ever pointed this out to either Cheney or Bush? Certainly not that I can recollect....

1. They failed on both counts..they didn't defend the
Constitution but instead left it in tatters, AND they didn't keep America safe..witness 9/11 followed closedly by the anthrax attacks, the devastation that Katrina left in its wake which Bush/Cheney didn't bother to fix or even rescue people off rooftops and out of the mess, the Iraq war, the Afghanistan war which wouldn't have happened if they'd protected against the 9/11 attack.
Cheney is spinning so fast he's going to screw himself right into the ground.

5. Bush and Cheny should be tried for rape
If anyone in American history raped the Constitution long, deep and continuously, it was those two.

6. And yet they push for serious Tort Refrom which would take away one
of the only checks against corporations inflicting harm on our citizens...

Protecting American Lives...

Bull Shit.

How come th prick wasn't more interested in ramping up the watch dog agencies of the US.

Comprehnesive envirnmental action coupled with stricter product safety measures would save way over 3,000 lives...

Protecting American Lives...

Bull Shit...
