Just got a robo call from my congressman, Chris Van Hollen |
|
He is holding a telephone town hall meeting tomorrow tonight on health care. I want to hear what he has to say, I've been pretty happy with him as a congressman so far. Anybody got any good questions to ask?

1. I'll be going to that town hall as well... |

We are so lucky to have Chris. He's made some minor mistakes, e.g., voting for the Iraq invasion, but a reliable progressive.
I want to ask him why he doesn't demand the Republicans to refuse their public option if they think it's so horrible. I work for the federal government and all of us receive a public option. The Republicans and Blue Dogs, or anyone else who doesn't support a robust public option should refuse their own health care plan...bought and paid for my the citizens of this great nation!

2. Do you think health care is a basic human right or a privilege for those who can afford it. |

Do you think insurance company bureaucrats should stand between me and my doctor, deciding what to cover?
Do you think insurance company bureaucrats should decide who to cover and who to drop?
We have given private insurers many chances to prove they can run our health insurance system better than the government but they have failed miserably. Can we now focus on helping the 47,000,000 uninsured people and millions of under-insured instead of on protecting private profits?
Do you believe all our fellow citizens deserve healthcare?
Do you support Medicare for All? My mom was very happy with her medicare and the paperwork was much simpler than what I have to do with my private insurance.
Isn't Medicare a mixture of public and private systems? Medical services are privately delivered, between patients and their doctors. Payments and cost controls are publicly administered, with very low overhead and accountable to us all. That sounds great for America-- best of both worlds.
Do you think it is okay if millions go bankrupt paying medical bills ?

I haven't checked, but he is probably for the public option. I'll find out tomorrow. If he isn't, I will use some of your questions.

4. And have 'em ready in case deathers try to disrupt things. |

Some of the questions about insurance company bureaucrats can give him the chance to expound on the problems with our current system. To start with the severe problem rather than let the talk get swept away with bizarre rumor mongering questions.
