Hank Williams Jr: "If it wasn't for the Electoral College, Obama wouldn't be president."
Edited on Sun Sep-06-09 07:47 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME STUPID?!?!?

I think we've found our conservative idiot of the week

from the promo interview for his appearance at Sean Hannity and Don Blankenship's pro-mountaintop removal rally:

---
In 2008, he supported Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain's bid for the presidency. He appeared with McCain on the campaign trail, where he sang a revised version of his song "Family Tradition," called "A McCain-Palin Tradition." When the Republicans failed to retain the White House, Williams didn't take it well.

"If it wasn't for the Electoral College, Obama wouldn't be president," he said. "Let's face it. That's the problem right there."

Funny that a conservative is complaining about the Electoral College considering how 2000 played out.

Al Gore surpassed Bush's national popular vote total by 500,000 votes.

Obama, of course, won 9.5 MILLION more votes than John McCain nationally.

30. Could you imagine how much better shape we would be in if Gore had been president for those 8 years?
It's a happy image, but almost depressing to think about. I still can't believe how bad a president George Bush was. Just about every single thing he did was wrong. And we'll be suffering the consequences for years to come.

I honestly believe that if Gore had won we would have a much healthier economy and a lot less debt. I won't delude myself into believing there would have been a peace agreement in the Middle East.

38. I worked in radio, sound engineering, studio work and I've been a
half assed musician all my life. I also spent a good deal of time, more years than I care to say, working int he "gentleman's club" industry.

This one goes back to I think early '90s at a county fair and the bs radio station I worked for at the time was sponsoring all of the music acts and I was doing morning drive at the time so I got to hang out and introduce all of the acts. (By the way, The Temptations were still touring then, even though I think Ottis was the only original member left, and they were a total class act.

Anyway, there was this hosted area where people who won contests could come and meet the entertainers and as always, most of the acts were very generous and kind to the people and to the staff from the station.

Of all the great people I've met over the years in show business I met two of the worse that summer. Billy Ray Crybaby (as we all called him after that) and Hiccup Williams Jr. (you can guess how he got that name.) That's all I'll say, but just take what you know, or even think you know about these two and multiply it by 10.

And here's what it comes down to in the end, for me anyway, if your brilliant then maybe you've kind of earned the right to be a jerk, but these two are nothing but talentless hacks and deserve little more than ridicule.

RANT TO FOLLOW DIRECTED ENTIRELY AT HANK WILLIAMS JR.:

No, asshole, the only reason George W. Bush became president was because of the electoral college.

Obama won the popular vote 69,456,897 to McCain's 59,934,814.

That means it was 52.9% to 45.6% because another 1,984,658 (or 1.5%) voted for somebody else!

In other words, Obama won by 9,522,083 votes!

LEarn some math you rightwing fuck!

approximately equal to one mid sized state, tossed on the scales for their side that they don't have to expend any resources to win.

If they can be convinced that the election went to Obama because the Electoral College is a buncha flaming liberal pussies like all them other colleges, and they agree to get rid of it with us, then this country may not be afflicted with another Republican President ever again.

It's just fucked up enough to work!

66. People Were Always This Stupid
It's just that the media, see internet, has gotten so large that it catches everything they say.

67. And if it wasn't for your father's fame
You'd be a useless nobody known for nothing else but being a talentless hack

Come to think of it I can see why he likes Dubya so much -he recognizes a fellow talentless hack who only got where he was in life because of his father's name and reputation

Maybe more.

It's like... fuckin' incredible.

70. I'm sure we're all terribly grateful for Hank Jr. for clearing this matter up.
In fact, why isn't he on the cable news shows offering commentary and analysis?

Dude's a genius.

71. If Junior didn't have his daddy's famous name, he'd be the nobody he already is.
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 12:27 AM by David Zephyr
I don't believe he's really Hank Williams' son anyway.

74. It's nice to think that he isn't Hank's son
but when you see and hear Jr.'s son, Hank III, there's no doubt that Hank Sr. is his granddaddy.

77. So talent skips a generation?
Hmm interesting.

Hank Jr. is part of what they in Great Britain call "the lucky sperm club".

Over here known as "Who's your daddy?"

72. Hey you dumbass Hank Williams
If it wasn't for the damn SCOTUS and the electoral college Dubya would have never been president. It would've been President Al Gore and this country would've been better off for 8 friggin' years!

Obama got 54% of the young white vote age 18-29. Hopefully when some of these older racists die off they will take their hate with them.

87. Oh, I'm not surprised, after that 'great' song "If The South Woulda Won"
Does anyone doubt that 'Southern pride" isn't code for "The White People Should Be Back In Charge"?

Someone at my local diner, every time I was there, somehow insisted upon playing that fucking song:

http://www.lyrics007.com/Hank%20Williams,%20Jr.%20Lyrics/If%20The%20South%20Woulda%20Won%20Lyrics.html

Along with that other BREAKFAST classic (yes, this was breakfast) - Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Great song to go with my morning cup - NOT.

Obama won 28 states + D.C. and McCain won 22 states. Obama won 52.9% of the popular vote while McCain won 45.7% of the popular vote. Old Hank must have been hitting the bottle one too many times when he made that statement, LOL.

97. By Gum... He's RIGHT!

Indeed, the electoral college met on January 8, 2009 and, yes, Obama won that election.

That was no surprise, given the results from November 4, but it seems this man is something of a Constitutional scholar.

Heh.
