How ironic that Kerry spoke against the Viet Nam War
and brought Truth about it to the American people, and now over 30 years later, John Kerry is going to be talking about what is really going on in Iraq.

Both times were somewhat unpopular times to stand out against these wars. Vietnam was more dangerous to speak out against - yet he didn't hesitate. Iraq is easier to speak out against, and he has hesitated.

I'd say that John Kerry will be coming full circle when he again rises to the need for the truth about the war we are presently engaged in.

2. Vietnam's Continuing Relevance
Writing in The Nation magazine, National Affairs Correspondent William Greider identifies why events of 30 years ago still have impact today. It's because the issues are the same - we're losing a war and the president won't admit it. Bush is destroying the military today, just as Johnson and Nixon did 30 years ago.

"The United States is 'losing' in Iraq, literally losing territory and population to the other side ...

"High-minded pundits tell us not to dwell on the long-ago past. But the cruel irony of 2004 is that Vietnam is the story. The arrogance and deceit--the utter waste of human life, ours and theirs--play before us once again ... "

3. bush and nixon
more than anything else did not would not want to be known as a president of a "lost" war. you have to remember at that time the body count was up to 300 per week. it was a horrific time. the war touched all of us in such a profound way. we were all up against the survivors of WWII who would never question their leaders and considered anyone who did communists.john kerry was courageous and became a hero to the movement. he never criticized the soldiers, it was the leaders. in this war as well, our guys marched into bagdad instructed to kill anything that moved.guerrilla? apes don't behave like that.
peace out
