Dan Rather : The only journalist left in America |
|
I may be in the minority but I do not believe Dan Rather made a mistake running with the story about the Bush memos. After he called Dan Bartlett and he was interviewed by another CBS newsman, and after Dan Bartlett said they could not deny the authenticity of the documents, that should have been enough verification to run the story, in my opinion.
What are all the other so-called "journalists" going to say when Dan Rather is proven correct? Do they think a sly smile and a half-apology will put them back in good standing? For me, they will all be blacklisted forever. I have no need or use for such incompetent whores who have degraded the names of all good journalists. As Jerry Lee Lewis said to London, England - they can kiss my ass!

1. Dan will be just fine,... |
|
,...being the survivor that he is.
He has a plethora of resources,...that are most likely sick of this shit,...and actually prepared, as powerful influences themselves,...to TAKE A STAND!!!!
After all,...I'd be shocked if "anchors" (at least the smart ones) are not aware of the threat of a force beyond their corporatist bosses,...that would be "the people",...who WILL make or break them,...eventually.

CBS and Rather's actions were completely rational. What should they have done, not believed the White House and called a dozen or two experts to authenticate these documents? Has anyone in a similar position every responded like that?
And let me add (for the second time today), the intentions of the people who started the whole forgery bullshit were to CREATE questions about the authenticity of the documents. I have yet to see any real proof (that wasn't countered by someone else) that they were. Even the secretary said only that she had not personally typed them, not that author hadn't typed them.

3. Is anyone listening to... |

Laura Flanders on Air America? I caught the tail end of the interview with two men, I think one was a Dem and the other Rep. they were discussing Dan Rather and CBS. The little I heard it sounded like they felt Dan Rather is letting the WH hang themselves, but I heard only the last few minutes.
If you heard the interview would like to recap of their conversations.

"unimpeachable source"! I think Rather would know that barlett would screw over their grandmother's to ruin cbs.
Dan is really really impressing me!
