So it looks like we trade tort reform for public option. That's what I took from it. |

and Michelle looked fucking. sensational.
on edit: I originally spelled "tort" "torte". I've now edited it.

5. I don't think Obama was saying that he wants tort reform in this bill. |
|
He said something about his administration doing a test without new legislation.

21. If it will get a bill through, yes. |
|
This still will be a tough sell in the Senate.
Undoubtedly, there will be some bargaining, and this is probably the first move.

23. So far I am not impressed by this plan. |

The more I think over the nitty gritty Obama was talking about. I think it is going to be horrific because it really means no change.

24. I'm not very happy, either, actually. |

I had some health problems almost 10 years ago, and can't get any insurance that I can afford. I don't think that any insurance company policy or the public option will provide me with a policy that I can afford since I won't be eligible for subsidy. Spending $1,000 a month after taxes really puts a strain on a budget in big cities where housing is so expensive and where the jobs are.
My bad health episode caused my resume to look like swiss cheese and at my age, getting a real job is a real problem even with first class educational credentials and good experience in the past.
Turning around the economy might help me even more than this health care proposal because it would make it easier for me to get a regular job with decent health care. I'll bet that quite a few people are similarly situated.

Which package/version? Never heard of it until last night. Incidentally, I think that some form of rational tort reform is a good idea, trade or no trade. I have nothing against tort reform, I just get mad when it is talked about as the miraculous solution that will take care of all the health care problems. It's just a band aid, but band aids can be very useful.

Dems should call for tort reform that includes: --- More regulation of the AMA --- Easier class actions against pharmaceutical companies that rush bad drugs to market
