Cheney, Hastert, Schneider. This crap's gotta stop. NOW
From Atrios (quoting Bill Schneider):

"Well I can guarantee that they don't like George Bush. Do they think there's a difference? I think Osama bin laden - the al qaeda network - who I'm certain follow american politics. Look at the messages coming out on their tapes, they seem to follow politics very closely. They would very much like to defeat President Bush. But the question is could they pull of the same trick they could pull off in Spain? What Dennis Hastert says is they'd better not try that, it won't work here. My guess is he's right about that."

Not only is it not true, it's the OPPOSITE of true. We need to do more than simply call it dirty politics. We need to get the word out that George Bush has not made the nation safer. Period.

1. Just to make it perfectly clear, Bill Schneider is NO RELATIVE of mine!
:D

But if he turned out to be some sort of 3rd cousin, I don't wanna know
it. ;-)

2. I continue to wait for evidence of this presumption
I continue to wait for evidence that Al Qaeda has endorsed John Kerry for president. Where are the communiques, the e-mails, the weblogs? Surely, if that kind of hard evidence was out there the White House would release it.

3. Who cares what
Osama thinks?

My vote is not determined by what people speculate that Osama and Al Qaeda may want.

I don't care what Schneider thinks, either.

4. GOP Should Dump Hastert
Every time Hastert opens his mouth he says something that embarrasses the party. Maybe he's forgotten that Republicans aren't supposed to remind voters that Bush still hasn't caught Osama bin Laden. His ill-considered remarks give Democrats an opportunity to call for a change of leadership. According to CNN,

"At a rally in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Edwards said, 'When John Kerry is president of the United States, we will find al Qaeda where they are and crush them before they can do damage to the American people.' ..."

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/09/19/hastert.remark/index.html

Hastert's even more of a bozo than his predecessor Robert Livingston - an astounding achievement in itself. The GOP should find a replacement, pronto.
