Joe Wilson's Staff Just Hung Up On Me!
I called and expressed my outrage politely!

She immediately asked for my South Carolina zipcode and I said I was from Kansas.

She said that if I was not a South Carolina resident then Congressman Wilson is not interested in my opinion of his behavior last night!!! And then hung up!!!! What an asshole!

I cannot really believe it!

Maybe she is having a bad day! The phones were busy for 4 hours and still busy!

So here is his Washington number and a few SC zipcodes to help you out!
202-225-2452

29403 - Charleston
29492 - Charleston
29406 - Charleston

1. Rude
I know that when I have sent e-mails to reps that were not my own, I received a reply that said they would not be replying to me because I wasn't in their district. This is rude though.

41. All of them do so
and... you really cannot blame them.

With everything going "viral" these days, and with everyone communicate via email, what with the anthrax scare of letters, they really have to limit their attention.

Can you imagine Senators Feinstein and Boxer, with more than 30 million constituents?

2. Perhaps if you posted this again under "South Carolina" in the "State & Country"
forums, the folks from South Carolina would help out.
Just a suggestion.
PS Good for you for calling to politely express your outrage. :applause:

3. Tammy Baldwin's office makes a similar demand, they don't deal with out of district
folks. Yet, I get requests for campaign donations from her just fine.

I'm not sure that is universal among house reps, but I think this is pretty common on both sides of the isle.

If your not a constituent, they couldn't care less what you think. It has happened from both sides of the aisle I should add.

22. Funny
Because most of that money is probably out of district. The asshole may not want to hear from folks from out of district. However, he will hear from them one way or another.

17. So, then it's OK for your congresscritter to spend as much time time...
worrying about what someone from South Carolina thinks as on what you think? If your rep or Senators piss off someone in North Dakota, should they spend time worrying about it? Time they could spend on issues relevant to you? Should the staff really be debating the issue with people from out of the district?

Every one I've dealt with works for his or her constituents, if they work at all, and it's tough enough for even constituents to get through to them. Random comments from the rest of the public are ignored, at best, and tend to be a complete waste of everyone's time.

26. This is what gets me...
The votes of reps and senators in one state can directly affect the rest of us, yet we're not allowed to call them on their shit. We all have to cater to their racist constituents...what THEY want, the sick bastards who live their lives filled with hate and stupidity. Jesus that just galls me.

27. Instead of outrage, try patronizing concern: "Is Joe okay? My brother is a schizophrenic too and...
when he went off his meds he was acting like that too. I just hope Joe gets help before he ends up pushing a shopping cart full of bottles and cardboard and trying to swat away the voices in his head."

29. No worries, I just called...
...and told the young woman (1) I was outraged at Joe Wilson's shocking outburst and breach of decorum; (2) I have asked my Representative and Nancy Pelosi to censure him; (3) I have contributed to Rob Miller's campaign; (4) Rob Miller has amassed over $333,000 since last night; and (5) I then said "Good job, Mr. Wilson!" and gently hung up on her.

So you're even now!

This is true across the board. I've been frustrated trying to communicate with senators and representatives in other states/districts. If you can't vote for them, they don't want to hear from you. They just don't care.
