It's time to raise the minimum wage....a buck or two? |
|
Every little bit will help that group and the economy as a whole.

3. The problem is that society feels compelled to preserve the income disparity |
|
When there's talk of raising the minimum wage, someone immediately complains that you'd need to raise all other wages, too.
Why the hell should that be the case? What possible purpose could it serve except to preserve the income disparity? Does the fact that some people now have a slightly higher income mean that someone else's income is automatically reduced? Of course not!
What we really need IMO is a maximum wage.

can actually make a living working for minimum wage....But, big corporations, Wal-Mart, McDonald's, etc...have the republicans working for them to bullshit the public by saying it'll hurt small businesses....but it's really the corporations, the same ones who hire undocumented workers by the truckloads...for peanuts and keep workers from making a living at minimum wage, keeping it as low as possible, and would still barely be getting by even if it was to go up to $10.25 an houreverywhere.

9. Minimum wage isn't really intended to provide a living... |
|
I think we'll see even more job losses if it is raised much more right now.

11. Minimum wage should be for protecting minors just entering the job market |
|
Adults deserve a living wage. Ten, twelve dollars an hour, or more. I'm serious.

Minimum wage by itself doesn't allow working people to survive thanks to inflation, etc.

14. Even if minimum wage was fixed to inflation, it's not enough for households exist on |
|
Living wage - dignity wage - humane wage.
A model I toy with from the days of yore:
Bank President makes $150 and enjoys his prime rib Bank manager makes $125 and has roast beef Head teller makes $100 and loves chops Tellers make $80 and enjoys roast chicken with all the trimmings Teller trainees make $60 and becomes creative with ground beef. Can you say casseroles?

I haven't gotten one in two years, and if they raise the mim. wage any higher it'll surpass my wage! LOL!
Well it's not funny, but sometimes you have to joke about these things.
