4. No. Just because there's no public option in Baucus's bill doesn't mean |
|
it won't be in the final bill.

5. Not at all. But Baucus, Conrad and Lincoln may be done. |
|
I heard both Rockefeller and Schumer this week not concede they would lose in Finance, but say the PO had a chance there. However, both were fairly strong that the final bill going to the President would have a strong public option.
Baucus, Conrad and Lincoln - names that will live in infamy, for me!

If Pelosi can pull things off in the House, then I believe the PO will be in the final bill.

Rockefeller and Schumer didn't expect their amendments to pass, but they're still hopeful a public option will be in the final bill.

But the ball is now squarely in Obama's court.
If he backs this bill, it will become HIS bill.

I've been worried about the strength and depth of Obama's commitment to the public option for a while now.
He hasn't been as strong in public statements as he could have been in recent months, and I'm not sure how to read that.

do you have any idea about how bills pass through the legislative process? because i have a feeling no matter what happens you'll be blaming obama for it.

We shall see how it all works out, and again, I hope your optimism is more on target than my pessimism.
I also think there is no call for your lack of civility, but that seems to be a disease around here.

that doesn't absolve Baucus, Conrad, etc. of blame.
