1. Jackeens, you're up awfully early. And I'm glad you are. These photos
are wonderful. Michelle looks absolutely radiant in these pics, and the guy next to her ain't bad either. I've loved her color choices this trip. Thanks again.

10. I just wish we had a first couple who got along better...
.... HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! They're so cute they make my teeth hurt! It would appear as though SOMEONE spent a couple of LONELY nights in the Lincoln bed. ;)

And to think, at best, the man spent the last night asleep on a plane ... I know he's got a little bed, but it's still a plane .... and yet how refreshed does he look.

14. So cool! I just love this family so much! No wonder the Repigs are so frustrated.
They don't have and never will have anyone close to the Obamas in intelligence, beauty and poise.

They'll be babbling idiots by the end of the 8-year term of Obama. So sad. :bounce:

22. You just can fake intimate gestures...
a smile in the eyes, the closed eyes accepting a gesture of affection, a nuzzle of affection, gentle placing of the hand on the stomach or on the small of the back--gestures of connection and belonging to one another. These cannot be faked and are so good to see in the cheekpecking wooden world of DC. I love this couple. They do love each other and their family and have enough in them to love all of America too in spite of the ugliest of disrespect that has been shown them from all sides of the aisle--ours included.

33. How lovely to see a First Couple that is loverly!
What a contrast from * and his consort! In every way.
They represent "family values" in the flesh, instead of in theory. Seeing them makes those of us who are lucky enough to have someone we love (and who loves us back) want to give that person a big hug too, or at least to send them a message that tells them we love them, if they are not near! It's infectious.
While their personal connection and presence may not have been enough to swing the Olympics bid for Chicago, their attendance in Copenhagen sent some powerfully positive signals about how the US wishes to be perceived as part of the international community. Chicago's being chosen this year was a very long shot given the way the US is currently viewed, especially in the Third World. But if Obama is successful in getting the US extricated from "war forever," bringing the torturers to justice, and improving the US economic situation generally (health care reform is an absolute necessity for this!) ... all very tall orders ... Chicago's 2020 bid, if there is one, might have a real chance.
Thanks for brightening my day, Jackeens, even if I didn't see this until today!
