Noticed what Cheney is doing? Edwards needs to get going...
Cheney is out there making Kerry run againsts him as much as he is Bush. This makes the Kerry campaign focus as much attention on him as it does Bush. Edwards has to do more to get the focus on the other two knuckle heads.....right now this seems more like a three person race than a four person....

2. And then has the audacity to ask
"Where's Edwards?" Unbelievable. Pravda lives on, in America.

4. I agree
The media ignores Edwards and then asks where he is. The media spins for Bush and then asks why Kerry is not getting his message out.

It isn't just cable tv, however. I watched Today Show the other day and got so angry I E-mailed Katie Coric asking her how many times Kerry has to answer why he voted against the 87 billion. I asked her if she has ever asked anyone why Bush threatened to veto it or if she has ever discussed the alternative plan Kerry put forward. I asked her if she received a morning briefing on the RNC talking points. It isn't just cable tv. The free press, one of the checks and balances of our system of democracy, is at risk because of the neo-cons.

they're gone! Along with broadcast radio. We need to get them back, and make sure what happened to them does not happen to the internet.

3. Big Media picks up cheney's sound bytes...
local media gives Edwards big exposure which is his goal. Edwards talks to local folks, cheney hides in fancy places with the rich.

5. War of inches...
You people are amazing...

Pull your heads out of your rear ends.....anymore a large part of elections are ran on perceptions. Kerry is out there answering to BOTH Bush and Cheney. And I KNOW the media is doing a poor job of covering Edwards - he is not getting near the press of Cheney, so he needs to do something to tip the scale.

And this is what I would suggest - to covertly advertise an upcoming speech where he shows his anger - completely scripted of course, but where he shows the audience that he is mad as hell, and then tear into Cheney and Bush big time....

Something has to be done to change the dynamic of the race and standing around ignoring everything isn't going to do it...it reminds me of the old tale of monkeys in a tree....those on the bottom look up and only see rear ends and those at the top look down and see smiling faces.....

7. Already signed up....
I'm already signed up to do work for the Kerry campaign.....I just find this continual shiney, smiley face attitude will not work with the Repugs. But what is equally troubling is the attitude one gets here when chinks in our armor are discussed - people here treat dissent like the plague...

8. Repugs
My mom was working at the Democratic booth at the local fair. A woman came up to her and said, "how do you justify killing all those little babies." My mother looked at her and responded: "You mean all of those little Iraq babies? I know, we have to stop." The woman just looked at her in silence, and then stammered, "I wasn't talking about those babies..."

14. Sheesh....
I've been following politics for almost 30 yrs now, okay? I've given money, time, sweat, effort and heartbreak. What about you?

What I've seen time and time again is the Dems getting rolled because they are mainly two things: First, unwilling to get down and fight and secondly, allow our arrogance and perceived superiority in our ideas render us unable to critique ourselves.

I am a very optimistic person about this race and Democratic causes, but the mere 50/50 nature of this race shows how we are blowing it big time and we MUST find out what it is....

We have so many issues to use against Bush but for a variety of reasons we are not using them effectively. For example, the last issue of Newsweek showed a cover relating to slime politics. Now, in my opinion, the Dems have not "slimed" Bush anywhere near what they have done to Kerry - but look what happened - Newsweek gave them equal "slime" time.

Sadly, go back and re-read any of the many good books on past losing presidential bids and a common theme is a sort of myopic view of the campaign by a core group that is very empty of constructive criticism.

Now, what are YOU doing to get Kerry elected?!?!

16. I just came in from voter registration which I set up and do entirely by
myself every Saturday morning. I also do phone banking, letters to editors and any and everything the local democratic office asks of me. I have attended K/E events & participated in visibility and phone banking in 3 states. Not to mention my many donations. Probably the most valuable thing I do is to try to stay informed and spread the message of K/E correctly. In short, I try to do everything I can to to help get Kerry elected. You're right, we should speak out when we don't agree with the way the campaign is being run. But speaking out isn't enough. We should also look at our own personal contribution. Signing up on the Kerry website is good, but it isn't enough. Go by your local Democratic office and volunteer there. Get REALLY involved if you want to bring about this change.

13. "NO", the big question is...Where is Edwards? He's NOT out there!!
I know he's doing a great job on the stump and people love him, his style, his smile and his message...BUT THAT IS NOT ENOUGH! HE NEEDS TO DO WHAT A VISE PRESIDENT SHOULD DO...GET ON CHENEY'S BACK...BIG TIME! Only then will the Media give him some air time. He needs to make some NEWS...being Mr. nice guy isn't going to do it! The media doesn't notice you unless you say something stupid or nasty!

Advise to John Edwards...RIP CHENEY A NEW ONE! (while you Reveal that beautiful smile) and you will end up in the White house. Your our future Vice President...act like one! There'll be plenty of time AFTER the election to be your true self...a wonderful Charming, caring, intelligent and honest young man! But NOW we NEED you to be an ATTACK DOG! Start barking!

17. So the entire election is to hinge on Edwards? Sounds like a scape
goat tactic to me. We all know Edwards has been blacked out of network news because the conservative media is so afraid of his ability to connect with the voters. What can he do to get noticed? He attacks Bush & Cheney everyday - but cable news won't cover it. The attacks are coming out - but not necessarily from Edwards - and that's a good thing. I'm afraid that what I see happening here at DU is a group of complainers that really do nothing for the cause except hang around DU. If Kerry loses, these complainers will shove the blame on Edwards. Am I wrong? Isn't that the intention of these "Where the Hell is Edwards" threads that keep showing up?

18. Have you heard him recently?
Heard about a rally in Ohio. He took Bush apart. A charming ax-murderer. He left no prisoners.

19. Stealth Missile
Sept. 27 issue - John Edwards never stops smiling as he bounds off the campaign bus, pumping his fist in the air and diving into the crowd with such abandon that an aide has to hold on to the back of his belt to keep him from falling forward. But from the minute he starts to talk, we see that that nice son of a mill worker can also push back with the best of them.

In recent weeks the Democratic vice presidential candidate's stump speech has gone from an easy-listening autobiographical commercial to a rat-a-tat indictment of the Bush administration.
