FDR'S Economic Bill of Rights (Thanks to Michael Moore for putting it in the film!)
The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

If only FDR had lived to accomplish it!

As Moore points out in his film, we helped Europe and Japan obtain these rights for their post-war citizens (and they still enjoy them) ~ yet we don't have them even today.

2. Wow America's history has some cool stuff...(from a Foreigner's eyes)

I am really liking this FDR guy. Until this campaign finance thing is taken care of there is no chance for peace in America. If only the people were as tough minded as the people over seas to fight for what they wanted. Ultimately, maybe in about 10-20 years America will finally get some form of respectable healthcare (this debate now will not produce anytihng worthwhile -- a triggered PO is garbage and that is the best that could come out of all this) and we can move on to other issues like descent climate control (and not this terrible proposal now). Pattern seems to show that America is very slow at change and the best way to accomplish anything is through baby steps allowing the wealthy to get their cut before they unlosen the chains a little.

The U.S. is still the only developed nation that still battles over the idea of Creation: Science vs. Magic....i mean, seriously, if that debate is happening then change is NOT coming soon.

7. Too many people are drunk on the "American dream" cool-aid...
They'll vote against their own best interests hoping that one day they'll make it to the top of the capitalist dung heap.

3. We are nowhere near FDR's Dream...................
The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

President Obama needed to believe or even read this before he allowed the crap stimulus bill to be passed....and he signed the crap.

The right of every family to a decent home;---Instead we have hard working Americans that have paid their mortgage on time and got into FRAUD BASED ARM's losing their homes left and right because President Obama did not DEMAND that the mortgage companies negotiate each and every 1, 2 and 5 year no interest or other type of ARM, with homeowners that paid their mortgage ON-TIME. Now, you have to be late to have them tell you that you do not qualify for the so-call HOPE for Homeowners program.....WHATEVER!!!!

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;-We cannot get a decent Public Opinion Health Care Bill out of Committee with a Democratic House, Senate and President. Enough said here!!

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;-One additional unemployment extension with no FDR type WAP job creation=people running out of unemployment by the end of the year, still without a job. These are the young, old, sick.......no job, no benefits, no health care.

The right to a good education.--Can the middle class afford a college education for their kids without taking out loans or money from their retirement 401K's. No Pell Grants if you make over 40K. With average tuition and fees at 20K per year...the Good Education theory is gone out the window....

13. Then there is the lie "A good education will get you a good job".
Not any more, if it ever did. Lots of us boomers have graduate degrees, skills and experience and stopped looking for work. Our parents believed in education and so did we. Nobody wanted to invest in us on the job after we and our parents invested in ourselves.

8. I went to see the movie today,
I highly recommend it! When that part came on, my husband looked around and everyone's eyes were riveted on the screen. There was no fidgeting or eating popcorn.
