Obama's "leaving Afghanistan is not an option" declaration probably went over well with the troops...

American troops in Afghanistan losing heart, say army chaplains

American soldiers serving in Afghanistan are depressed and deeply disillusioned, according to the chaplains of two US battalions that have spent nine months on the front line in the war against the Taleban.

Many feel that they are risking their lives — and that colleagues have died — for a futile mission and an Afghan population that does nothing to help them, the chaplains told The Times in their makeshift chapel on this fortress-like base in a dusty, brown valley southwest of Kabul.

“The many soldiers who come to see us have a sense of futility and anger about being here. They are really in a state of depression and despair and just want to get back to their families,” said Captain Jeff Masengale, of the 10th Mountain Division’s 2-87 Infantry Battalion.

3. Vietnam/Afghanistan = Samey-same
I was an Army REMF 72-75, never left the states. Got to see lots of troops coming home, depressed and in despair until they ETSed (got their discharge). Even without a draft, I can imagine the same feelings and reactions in Vietistan, er Afghanistan.

It's time to go, I hope Senator Kerry returns from his trip to tell President Obama...ENOUGH, get out now! Equipment and munitions that can't be removed should be "blown in place" but get our troops out within 90 days. It can be done, there is no need for more WIA/KIA.

The Russians were ruthless, willing to kill any and all, as necessary.......and THEY lost, we cannot win a shooting war.

Want to win, remove our troops, pour in billions in aide, build infrastructure, schools, hospitals and DO NOT TELL THEM HOW TO LIVE! We win! Ten, twenty, thirty years no matter what kind of government they have, no matter what religion, no matter what kind of society, if we haven't lost any more troops ....we WIN!

IF WE LEAVE AFGHANISTAN NOW WHO LOSES? THE INDUSTRIAL/MILITARY COMPLEX THE MUNITIONS AND ARMS MANUFACTURERS. THE CHICKEN HAWKS WHO "CRY HAVOC AND LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WAR"....FROM THE SAFETY OF THEIR DESK ON K Street in WASHINGTON D.C.and in the fancy clubs and restaurants while our congress people suck the PAC teat and stuff their pockets with dirty blood covered cash.
