Why I like being a progressive: had Bush won the Nobel Peace Prize in Oct 2001. . . |
|
. . .the right would have celebrated, forced the country to celebrate and gone after anyone in the media who questioned the choice.
I am proud of President Obama for winning this award and I hope he lives up to the expectations this award places on the rest of his presidency.
However I am just as proud of those progressives who feel this is premature and have vocalized that.
Had Bush won this award in October of 2001 the right would have insisted everyone celebrate.
While the DNC rightfully called out Steele, the RNC and folks like Rush for idiotic statements they are not demanding that the country celebrate this honor.
The diversity of thought and opinion on the left is something we should celebrate.

3. I would celebrate it if it didn't constantly slow down and poison what |
|
we're trying to do. The left's voice added to the chorus of haters just weakens our side and makes it more likely that Palin will take over in 4 years.

6. Oh, yes, might as well put on my muzzle. |

What people say on a freaking message board and what they do in the voting booth are two different things.

4. Obama takes so much shit just for breathing |
|
you'd think "our side" would hold their fire over a peace prize that he never campaigned for, the awarding of which is clearly meant to promote outcomes the left so devoutly desires.
But, no...

5. I think he framed the issue right in his response. |

Not taking credit for it, but taking it as a call to action.

8. Sorry, your other posts on the subject preceded this. Your first inclination |
|
was to NOT be happy about it. Just as your first inclination about the Michelle story in the NYT was to be unhappy about that, too.
First instincts are quite telling.
