8. This morning I woke up to a Washington Post editorial |
|
that "chose" the protester who was killed in Iran. Now if they will only go ahead and award the Post Peace Prize to her posthumously and give up 1.4 million they will have nothing to complain abpout.
Others are touting a doctor in Africa.

1. If someone's peaceful act isn't known UNTIL they win the Nobel Peace Prize...then they probably don't deserve it.
2. On the other hand...if the Washington Post thought this was an event worthy of the prize, they must have reported on it when it happened...yes? Probably no. Probably they were too busy reporting on the latest right wing lie.
Conclusion: Maybe our mainstream media should be reporting on the many wonderful things people do all over the world instead of always giving the floor to the nutcases...like birthers and teabaggers...etc.
How much ink did Michelle Bachman get, or Sarah Palin or death panels etc. How much ink did ALL the nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize get????? ZERO!

There are many winners of the list that I have never heard of. to me that shows the media has not reported on them very much.

34. You're contradicting yourself. |
|
On one hand you say if someone's acts aren't known until they win, they don't deserve to win. And on the other you blame the media for not reporting those acts. So, which is it? Are the nominees to blame for their acts not being attention worthy or is it the media for not paying attention to the right things?

37. Yes...it is a contradiction... |
|
which is why I said "on the other hand" yet they are both true. Yes, the media should report these things. But, even if they did, how effective are these events in actually making a difference in the world. The fact is, that Obama, in his position, because of his empathy, gift for communicating, etc.... can make a huge difference and he has and will continue to.

46. The award is never given posthumously... |
|
But it is given in support of ideologies.
I'm sick of the idiots who forget history.
But what is really humorous in all this, is the fact that this isn't open to world vote... the Nobel Prize Committee is the be-all end-all... and I hope they are looking down their noses at all the self-righteous hubbub:)

a good point was made. I will go back and look at Taylor and Beyonce's videos...maybe Kanye was right!
I'm being facetious, of course. But the poster is right. What has happened with Obama is exactly what happened to Taylor. Instead of letting her bask in her win....somebody sh*t on it. Many have sh*t all over Obama's win.

BEFORE he even had the mic in his hands.
So if Kanye had made his statement as Taylor was rising from her seat before she even came to the stage....would that have made it OKAY??????

Obama doesn't know or care that some DUers object to his prize. Few not on DU know or care, either. The public and unavoidable nature of West's actions is in no way, shape or form comparable to posts on a fucking internet site.

Hope mobile? Messiah? Worshippers? Yeah, all terms used by so called "progressives" on this board. How pathetic you are.
You're the whiners by the way who can't get over the fact that the person you supported in the primaries lost. Take your fucking ball and go home while the grown ups discuss grown up things.
