Edited on Tue Oct-13-09 10:11 PM by Clio the Leo

Rockefeller: Obama 'Wants To Come In Hard' On Reform
Rachel Slajda | October 13, 2009, 6:33PM

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) told MSNBC this afternoon that President Obama "wants to come in hard" on health care reform now that the Senate Finance Committee has voted on their version of the bill.

Rockefeller said he spoke with the President today. MSNBC anchor Ed Schultz challenged him, asking why Obama spoke so highly of the Finance Committee's bill, when it doesn't include a public option.

"He's the President, you gotta cut him some slack. He's an inside player," Rockefeller said. "Don't worry about that. He wants the public option. He wants MedPAC. ... Now that the Finance Committee is finally out of the way we can move on."

1. Obama told Progressive Bloggers over a month ago
to not go crazy over the committee bills, that he just wanted to get the bill to conference. But Ed Schultz and others want to overreact to every little thing that is said.

4. Yeah, they NEED to overreact and say he
"lacks courage". It's very necessary for them.

5. I like Ed, I really do.........
.... but I wish, every now and then, he'd take a moment to BREATHE and not speak. lol

What was it he said last week? "Am I to the point where I'm DISAGREEING with Howard Dean!?" ..... I thought he might have a light bulb moment with that one ..... but no.

10. Taking moments to breathe and think does not attract viewers
bloviating like a fool and getting people outraged over nothing is what drives cable opinion shows.

2. Yeah but will he *fight* for a PO?
That question will only be answered after the fact.

13. What kind of question is that?! He said he would and he has.
Every bloody event he has done he has mentioned his staunch support of the PO. He has already come out and said he will veto any bill that doesn't have a PO. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/obama-demands-the-bill-i-sign-must-include-public-option.php

3. I honestly believe we will get a public option, and then
we can watch all the naysayers complain about it. How great is that?

16. It's that "a" that has me nervous. Which public option? It makes a huge difference.
I hope it's not triggered, or only available to a small percentage of Americans. If so, Obama will have a revolt on his hands.

14. "Pulblic Option"
What does that mean. Rockefeller mentioned MEDPac, an advisory group on Medicare.

Is it the lousy public option for ONLY the uninsured as mentioned in the speech, four years out.

Or is it a public option that anyone can choose, regardless of insurance status.

If it's the latter, then we're in great shape.

Anyone know?
