From the safety of Kennebunkport, Bush warns: "more Iraq, Afghan violence"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6036212/

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine - President Bush warned Saturday that deadly guerrilla violence in Iraq and Afghanistan could worsen in the coming weeks as the two countries move toward national elections.

"Terrorist enemies are trying to stop the progress of both those countries, and their violent and merciless attacks may increase as elections draw near," Bush told radio listeners. "But all the world can be certain: America and our allies will keep our commitments to the Afghan and Iraqi people."

"Never in the history of the United Nations have we faced so many opportunities to create a safer world by building a better world," Bush said in his radio address. "For the sake of our common security, and for the sake of our common values, the international community must rise to this historic moment. And the United States is prepared to lead."

Voters give Bush high poll ratings for leadership on international security issues. But next week's foray onto the international stage comes at a gloomy time for the administration's Iraq policy.

3. Sounds to me like...
Bush is preparing a sales pitch to the U.N. to get peacekeeping troops in place to start bringing our troops home.

Either that, or trying to build world support for YABI (Yet Another Bush Invasion.)

4. One slip in Cheney's Oregon speech suggested
...elected government in Iraq might not be in place until a year from December. Sistani warned about delaying elections. Something is going on there that isn't being discussed.

The violence is aimed at eliminating the interim government and preventing it from solidifying into a power base. I don't think it has anything to do with elections. As bemildred has often commented January is a long way off.

5. It's just not discussed

in the MSM in the United States. Over here in Europe it's crystal-clear and even in the MSM discussed, there won't be an election early 2005 in Iraq. The UN already plans to postpone the elections because they don't find enough personal to overview them due to the security situation in Iraq. If reelected, Bu$h has to go after Ramadi, Falluja, Basra, Kut and most of western Iraq. When he finished this job, this citys won't exist anymore. And the anger will be even higher than today. Elections early 2005 are nothing more than an illusion...

6. Is bush trying to steal Kerry's plans, again?
Except the world hates bush, and the United Nations is the world. Three times, bush has begged and has come out empty handed, that's not including the 20th times Powell has beg countries for help.

To have the world, first time in the history of this country, hate the president, does not make us safer. Bush is seen as a fool and the world is not paying attention to his foolishness, and our country is paying a huge price.
