2. How dare other people read messages I've posted publically on the internet!
What's next? Potential employers look at my drunken black face meth parties I've been posting on facebook?

6. There was an actual thread a couple of days ago arguing something similar to that.
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 12:03 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
It was basically saying that Obama was like Hitler and Stalin.

3. Um, for one this is public information they are analyzing, for 2, the problem was NEVER Bush spying.
...it was the Bush administration spying while attempting to bypass FISA. But go ahead with your bad self and your revisionist history and blowing stuff out of proportion and all that. You seem to enjoy it.

12. I always find it odd that people have an expectation for privacy on the internet
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 12:10 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
Example 1: Obama's speechwriter
Example 2-900: Republicans that have been caught with racist emails, images, comments, etc.

qualify as an EPIC fail in yet another attempt to link Obama to Bush? I think so.

11. How is statistical analysis of public information "spying on you?"
If you post things on the internet, anyone can read them. That's kind of the point.

13. The article basically says what anyone with 3 brain cells already knew
Your tweets, your reviews, your blog posts, your PhotoBucket Photoshop mashups... are all available for anyone to check out and use... including the CIA...

:scared:

Wow. Who woulda thunk...

17. Hey, look at the bright side.
If the CIA's got a crawler bot analyzing keywords on the average blog, they've most likely doubled that blog's audience.

14. Hey, y'all, put this to the WIBDI test
http://www.chris-floyd.com/component/content/article/3/1641-wibdi-a-prism-for-the-new-paradigm.html

Would you think having the CI fucking A profiling American bloggers, twitterers, etc. was a great thing under Bush? Really?

16. I don't think it's a great thing...it's just a thing.
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 12:19 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
Anyone...ANYONE can read your posts at any time. Google yourself and see. This isn't personal emails, this is blog posts and Twitter.

On Edit: And yes, under Bush, I had no expectation of privacy for things posted on internet forums either.

19. This isn't about reading posts
It's about the CIA making automated dossiers rating how "positive" your posts are.

That's not at all creepy, is it?

21. Not particularly.
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 12:23 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
Again, you can google me and find out how positive I am and what I believe in anyway.

On Edit: Also, they are monitoring keystrokes, not "profiling bloggers"

20. There's a difference between statistical analysis of keyword frequency and "profiling bloggers."
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 12:22 PM by Occam Bandage
They're not doing anything but looking at what topics people are discussing, and how information flows. Guess what? Most major corporations are beginning to do the exact same thing. The blogosphere is the biggest new marketing resource in history.

Are you ready to admit how big of a fail this thread was now?

crawls the internet for stupidity too! It would be nice to stamp out internet stupidity at the same time.

I'll bookmark this thread for when the technology becomes available. :P
