I really hated Obama for an hour or so....
Edited on Wed Oct-21-09 12:42 AM by TheCoxwain
7.25 pm ...I make my way home Manhattan to Nj

around 7.45 I reach 8th Ave and 26st on my way home via the Lincoln Tunnel... The traffic is really slow

by 8.20 pm I reach 8th ave and 28th ( 2 block in about 30 min)

I see cops redirecting traffic ..making me travel eastward on 28th ( away from my intended direction)

Bewildered I tune to the traffic station.....the reason for the delay ...Obama is in town ( wooing the Banksters )

The area is in total gridlock.... I mean nothing was moving.... what if my wife was delivering a kid? ..or if I had a sick child at home?...

why do I have to be so horribly stuck in traffic .... Why did Obama not take a Chopper into the hotel instead of a car???

Finally I reach Lincoln tunnel at 8.57 pm. what should have been 2 minutes ended up being 1.5 hours...

why - Obama was fund raising...

so I was pissed at him for a while...

4. Employment is at the 18% level -
Almost rivaling that of the Great Depression.

Obama's Treasury and Fed Duo offered the Banksters 2 trillion of Main Street's money with no regulations or oversight.

The Heath care debate has been about helping the insurers and the fraudulent CEO's at said insurers.

The Monsanto clones occupy the top perches at Ag Dept and at FDA.

We ar eabout to expand our scope of war in Afghanistan...

So what would any PROGRESSIVE person think about this?

That the President should be applauded?

6. Take that
shit somewhere else.

For you to sit here and lay all the worlds problems at the feet of Obama speaks volumes.

15. Uh, who else appointed Bernanke and Geithenr, or Taylor and Velsick?
And what a terible piece of theatrics this season of Health Care "Reform" has been. On our side, there were no strong talking points - simply "Believe in what the Final Bill will be, even though there is no guarantee that anything resembling a strong public option will exist."

At some pointk yes, the problems that exist are items that Obama has addressed and addressed poorly.

Perhaps you need to put down the pompoms and watch this week's Frontline - a show that clearly lays out how precarious our current situation happens to be. (It is on the PBS Frontine site to be watched any time you want.)

Spend some time over in the "economics" forum, where there are not as many cheerleadders, and start understanding what it takes to make or break an economy (Hint: The current Administration is not following policies that will heal this economy for anyone but the upper one percent.)

Obama came into office with 62% of the populace having voted for him. He had 76% of all Americans believing that 'Medicare for all' (or SPUNHC) was a great idea. He could have done wonders, and instead he has, with Geithner and Bernanke's help, created expensive policies that are not going to provide jobs for very many people.

Another hint - his stimulus bill was all about tax cuts for the rich, and shovel ready projects - how does that help people in their forties and fifties who are teachers, project managers, fire fighters, project managers, social workers, librarians, etc? Why didn't he simply apportion money to the states so they can directly keep the people employed via their budgets? Even Clinton gave 20 Billion Bailout monies to Mexico - while Geithenr laughed when the gvoernor of Calif. asked for 20 billion. WHy are these people laughing atr us while Rome burns.

And while our troops are being committed to yet anbother military adventure?

This new war is clearly going to be Obama's and God help him and us for his refusal to read history.

12. If you're such a true blue progressive, why don't you take public transportation instead of driving
Edited on Wed Oct-21-09 10:44 AM by rvablue
your own personal pollution spewing vehicle into an already congested city?

What would any PROGRESSIVE person think about this? Maybe that you are self-absorbed, hypocritical or lazy?..........Dunno.......

7. He ALSO stopped off at Organizing for America, to encourage
the thousands of people organizing phone banks to get people to call their CongressCritters for Health Care Reform.

The goal was 100k calls, OFA rustled up 315k. . just on 10/20. (Not a bad day's work)

8. Sounds like life in the Big City as we know it
I have sat and waited in traffic for an assortment of Presidents and world leaders, because I lived in major cities, and that is how it goes. I've been stopped for Pres Clinton to pass twice, Reagan once, Bush 41 once, the Pope JP, etc. If you don't like that sort of thing, hang out in neighborhoods where Presidents don't go, and most certainly do not drive in Manhattan!
And you know what? I never even asked why any of them were driving by. Figured they have the right to travel freely and all. Being heads of state.

Edited on Wed Oct-21-09 12:22 PM by TheCoxwain
My issue was the ..there were these rich bastards being canoodled by the president while an ordinary citizen like me was getting shafted.

1.5 hours for 4 blocks ... that is ridiculous!!!

9. Come to CT and then you will really live in gridlock.
Our highways were not designed for the amount of traffic on them...at least 95 and the Merritt Parkway.

I get the anger over the fund raising but really...networks don't give free air time. The Rethugs used to always out fundraiser the Dems and have an advantage. Until free elections exist, there will be fundraisers.
