Anyone know what Obama (or Biden) was doing in midtown NYC last night?
We saw his limo turn right on 9th ave and 56th street and head in the direction of one of the tunnels. Never seen anything like it before in person--motorcade, secret service vehicles, and the NYPD out in force.

A sizable crowd that had assembled on the sidewalk behind the barriers cheered when a black limo with American Flags and a government seal on the door made the turn.

Of course, I'm only assuming this was President Obama, not Michelle or Biden or even one of the Clintons...

1. If it's the prez, they usually insist you take your hands out of your pockets and have motorcycles
shutting down intersections.

ALL security details have gotten bigger. The Veep used to just get a suburban or two. Now, it's a whole motorcade. Sometimes also true for the for Sec. of State and sometimes the AG.

3. Two fundraisers
One at the Mandarin and one at the Hammerstein. You'd have to tell me which one because I don't know New York.

The GOP has shown it's complete unwillingness to mop, they're a lost cause.

8. Did you get chills? I think it would be so moving!
I remember watching from high up from my office building window when Jimmy Carter came out of the Olympic Hotel and headed south on I-5 in Seattle. I got waves of patriotism! I watched until his motorcade became a tiny dot on the freeway.

I can't imagine being right there on the street and watching the cars go by -- how exciting! :patriot:

9. Try working in DC then
I used to regularly flip off George, be it by limo or helicopter. Saw Obama's motorcade a few times too, but no desire to flip him off. I worked across from the Wash Post, and they blocked off the entire block to cars a few times. Not to pedestrians though. It is usually a huge motorcade.

13. I'd join you in flipping off Bush and any of his henchmen I could ID -- but did
the thrill ever wear off knowing you were watching POTUS drive by? I just can't imagine becoming blase about it, but then I don't LIVE there! :hi:
