Former Republican Congressional candidate Tim Bridgewater “will now try his luck against Senator Bob Bennett in the 2010 election,” KCPW News reports.
“Now as I consider the difficult task of taking on an incumbent senator, I do so knowing that he will raise more money, he will have more high profile Republican endorsements, and he will have a lot more campaign staff,” he said. “But Utahns and other Americans across this great country aren’t buying the snake oil from Washington anymore, and all the money in DC can’t buy back trust of the voters.”
Bridgewater said 18 years in the Senate is long enough for the incumbent. He called Bennett a “nice guy,” but said he’s been complacent in allowing federal spending to continue to grow.
Bridgewater lost the Republican primary election when he ran for Congress in 2002 and 2004. He said no one knew who he was last time around, but things are different now.
In recent years, “Bridgewater served as education adviser to former Governor Jon Huntsman.”
