2. I believe so...
there are people who get wrapped up in a bandwagon effect and that they can be part of some exciting team if they are voting for the poll-predicted winning candidate.

The good news is that this will work for Kerry too, and since it isn't Nov, maybe Bush is getting his bandwagon effect over with now.

I don't think it keeps people from voting. But I do think if a person thinks their candidate is going to win their state, they feel they can vote third party to show their differences between them and the candidate.

If someone uses a poll as an excuse not to vote, they probably weren't going to vote anyway. There are a lot more people (and issues) on a ballot than just the presidential race.

5. Some do, unfortunately.
This, of course is just as dumb as voting for or against someone just because they are from a particular Party, religion, race, gender, or geographic part of the country. Far too many people are too lazy or uninterested to take the time to review a candidates past actions, or positions on all issues. It's just easier to go along with the crowd.
