Become a citizen co-sponsor of the Kerry-Boxer bill!

It's time for America to lead the way toward a clean energy future.

When Senators Kerry and Boxer introduced the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act, they knew they would need help to move it forward past special interest opposition.

Please join them today by becoming a citizen co-sponsor and demonstrate that Americans want clean energy jobs and a reduction in global warming pollution now!

Text of the Statement

I join Senators Kerry and Boxer in supporting legislation to address global warming now and help create new clean energy jobs, reduce pollution from carbon emissions, and protect our national security by generating more clean energy here in America.

We can do this, and we can do it by passing the Kerry-Boxer bill.

I strongly urge the swift passage of this critical legislation.

email I just got from them:

Dear XXXX,

Climate change poses a major long-term threat to all animals. The risks that polar bears and seals face from shrinking ice caps are just high-profile examples of dangers facing all animals from habitat degradation and increasingly severe and frequent disasters, such as floods and hurricanes. These changes are likely to result if we do not take immediate steps to address global warming, and HSUS is weighing in on this important policy debate.

At the beginning of December, U.S. officials will sit down with leaders of many other countries in Copenhagen to try to reach an agreement on how to meet this global challenge. The stakes couldn’t be higher -- the rest of the world will be looking to the United States. Will we help lead the way forward to resolve this crisis or will we continue to drag our feet and provide other nations with an excuse for inaction?

Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA) have introduced a strong bill, the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act (S. 1733), which goes further to address climate change than the bill passed by the House earlier this year. S. 1733 calls for more meaningful cuts in greenhouse gas emissions and protects EPA’s authority to regulate major polluters. Please ask your Senators to cosponsor this bill before the U.S. delegation leaves for Copenhagen.
