What are your "non partisan" reasons for voting for Kerry?
I was thinking about "meta" reasons for voting for Kerry that are outside of the normal partisan reasons. Here are mine:

1. Split Federal Government can be good - the checks and balances envisioned by the Founding Fathers work better when there is an adversary relationship between branches of government. Either a (D) as President and (R) control of congress or vice versa.

2. Political dynasties are bad for democracy. Families should not have ongoing political power in a democracy.

3. Kerry is obviously smarter and better educated than Bush.

What are others?

1. Because I hate Bush
Because he is a lying POS.

That's as non-partisan as I can get today.

2. The CEO foisted on us by the Board of Directors, aka
the Supreme Court, has done a miserable job. He has run this company into the ground much like he did every other enterprise he was ever associated with.

We need to hire a new CEO. That's what successful corporations do. The outgoing guy will have his gold parachute. It's that simple and non partisan.

4. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfie & the rest of the PNAC gang.
You don't have to be partisan to vote for Kerry but you'd have to be either partisan or insane or insanely partisan to vote for Bush.

5. For me Kerry wants to be President for All of the people, no matter
what race, what religion, what sexual orientation, what income bracket you are in. He also is willing to accept responsibility as the leader of the free world and believes all countries should be involved in the process including the United Nations not shut everyone out.

Also, another very important part of his administration will be the environment. We can see with the hurricanes that the scientists have already said global warming is causing more of them by the waters being warmer and a more friendly environment for creating them.

And I will shut up now but he is truly a uniter not a divider.

8. Can't Shut Up Yet--------
The Supreme Court. This strikes fear in my heart for what it will look like if Bush succeeds by hook or crook in being selected for another term.

6. Because I hate *
I can't stand to watch him on television, he oozes evil, from ever pore, with every smirk.

I become ill if I watch him.

Non-partisan as you can get - Bush is evil and is not a true member of the GOP - you will find members of the GOP that condemn him and cry about what he has done to their party.

7. My reasons...
1. Being an intellectual is an asset, not a weakness.

2. The ability to think in terms of complexity and nuance is the true measure of a leader.

3. Religion should not be used for political motives.

Of course, my reasons don't really count, since I can't vote (not a U.S. citizen).

attention than most. Thanks for your comments. Are you able to help out in other ways with the campaign?

17. Thanks - that's my point
I was just trying to figure out how a smart person who has no political stake in the Presidential election could discuss who to vote for "above" the normal political reasons.

11. just look at the records
bush destroyed texas economy, schools, environment ... everything. He sells it all off for profit. and now he is destroying the entire country. he has the reverse midas touch.
he lies about everything, he covers up everything and he is a stupid coward.

kerry has an excellent record. he volunteered for the military, he is honest, he tried to bring the iran contra criminals to justice. he cares for the least of us as much as for the wealthiest. his voting record in the senate is impressive.

i wouldnt care if bush said he was a socialist it is all lies. he and the cabal are in it for themselves, they dont care a whit for democracy or this country except how they can use it for their own ends.

12. Kerry
is more intelligent than the Texas Armadildo.

is a much better athlete than the cheerleader chimp.

actually thinks about an issue rather than just being programmed.

looks calm and statesmanlike in this era of fearmongering.

seriously listens to advice.

19. non-partisan? kerry is more intelligent, more experienced,
more interested in all americans rather than the business community,

the list can go on and on. it doesn't have to be repub vs. dem. kerry doesn't have the baggage of alcoholism or drug abuse, doesn't claim god speaks through him, and has 60 years of being a pretty good citizen.

the choice between the two couldn't possibly be more clear.

20. Bush is an embarassment
I am a pretty patriotic person...4th of July has always been my favorite secular holiday, I have a huge American flag in my room, I take my civic responsibilities very seriously, and I generally feel very proud and very lucky to be an American. But President Bush comes off as so unintellectual and has made the United States so resented around the world that when I talk to people from other countries, I feel embarassed that we have such an inept and arrogant leader who just gives the finger to the world community. I want a president I can be proud of, and while Kerry was never my first choice for Democratic nominee, he served his country honorably, has a distinguished record as a politician, is intelligent and thoughtful, and has a much more internationalist view. I think that if Kerry were president, I could be proud of our country's leader and not have so much trouble being proud of our country. Does that make any sense?
