How would you order our last 12 presidents, liberal to conservative |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 04:21 PM by Onlooker
John Kerry George W. Bush Bill Clinton George H.W. Bush Ronald Reagan Jimmy Carter Gerald Ford Richard Nixon Lyndon Johnson John F. Kennedy Dwight Eisenhower Harry Truman
I would do this: - Kennedy - Johnson (Clearly helped make Kennedy's legacy a reality) - Kerry - Clinton - Carter - Nixon (Hawkish like Johnson on Vietnam, but otherwise not too bad) - Truman (Let's not forget the nuclear bombs he dropped) - Ford - Bush I - Eisenhower - Bush II - Reagan (Reagan gave birth to the freeper movement)
On edit: Added Kerry's name

13. Leaving out Kerry so as not to jinx |
|
LBJ Kennedy Truman Carter Ford Eisenhower Clinton (I know he looks fab by comparison, but not that liberal in practice) Nixon (Many liberal proposals, but finally, a totalitarian crook) Bush I Reagan Bush II (actually implemented the things that Reagan threatened)

14. It would vary by subject. |
|
It's hard to give an overall average. But I'd put it about like this. The sad thing is how close it comes to being chronological.
Harry Truman John F. Kennedy Lyndon Johnson Richard Nixon Jimmy Carter Dwight Eisenhower Bill Clinton Gerald Ford George H.W. Bush Ronald Reagan George W. Bush

15. Conservative is a tough term to generalize |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 04:49 PM by RatTerrier
When I think of true conservatism, I think of Goldwater. Bush II is as far removed from Goldwater as Jimmy Carter is. From a classic conservative viewpoint, I'd say Reagan is the most conservative.
Here's how I rank by this criteria, liberal to conservative:
John F. Kennedy Lyndon Johnson Jimmy Carter John Kerry (for comparison's sake) Harry Truman Al Gore  Bill Clinton Gerald Ford Richard Nixon Dwight Eisenhower George W. Bush George H.W. Bush Ronald Reagan
