Why Bush campaign is spinning story about cancelling first debate ? |
|
Bush is going to be studying and practicing hard. If they can somehow divert the Kerry campaign away from the debate - talking about cancelling debate, etc. - then they will think that will give Bush a small advantage. I think Kerry should ignore these statements and continue to prepare for the attacks that are surely to come from Bush and Rove. Do not let up thinking they may cancel the debates. That would be my advice to the Kerry campaign.

1. I can't see Kerry EVER giving up the momentum |
|
of this debate--no matter how much Bush cries from his high chair, "I can't do it"--and from where we all sit, that's just exactly what it looks like--a cry baby.
This is so ridiculous that they would even be talking about this. This will backfire bigtime, if indeed it is coming from them.

2. Kerry will be as ready as he can be: |
|

There are a few issues:
1. He must not continuously lick his lips...it's getting on the nerves of important people like Judy Woofwoof and Candy Crowley.
2. He is fortunate that Bush cannot deliver a line like Reagan supposedly could. If Bush sez something meant to be funny, he always gives that shit-eating smirk afterwards and he steps on his own punch line.
3. Speaking of which, Kerry should not mention Reagan - he will be opening himself up to the retort which Quayle received when he mentioned Jack Kennedy.
4. If things start to go badly, Kerry should just pull out all stops and go for broke. If things start spinning out of control, the media will just harp about it continuously until 11/2. We Dems have nothing to lose - we're running against the Repubs, the business interests, and thus the media. We are outnumbered, but we have truth on our side. Absolute truth, not Rethug truth.

However, the main difference here is Quayle and Kerry's intelligence level. Kerry will KNOW better than to say something as stupid as Quayle did. I still laugh when I think of that look on Quayles face after Bentson slapped him down with that comeback.:D
