It's NOT a DEBATE. It's a Q&A session while they stand in the same room!

Debate? DEBATE!?

Nope.

It is most definitely not a debate.

A scripted photo-op. A livestock show. Maybe something akin to a spelling bee.

But a debate it is NOT.

Thank you, I had to get that off my chest. :whew:

1. If you want debates, go back in time
read what Lincoln and Douglas said to each other in 1858. Those were debates!

13. I am reading "Lincoln" by Gore Vidal.
In Lincoln's run for Senate against Douglas he set him up by asking him a slavery question where Douglas would be forced to answer in favor of freeing slaves in order to win that senate election. But from then on Douglas was associated with freeing the slaves and that split his Democratic party in two when he ran against Lincoln for President. Lincoln won because Douglas only had half a party to vote for him. Lincoln was very cunning. (He only freed the slaves when he was sure it was politically necessary.)

Today our politicians have purposely lowered the bar so that their job is easier for them. This is no debate coming up, just competing commercials.

5. I wish someone would bring some walkie-talkies and key the mic
just as Smirk is getting fed his answers.

Wouldn't that work to jam the frequency?

Maybe it would work even on the outside of the building where the debate takes place.

8. People say he has an earpiece in his ear--like a hearing aid but
really for receiving his 'talking points.'

9. It's no wonder then....
that he's an embarrassment to even some repugs. Wow! Do people think he actually runs the country? All he runs is his mouth.

10. That's OK.
The general public doesn't care about debate points anyway, but they do like to see a side by side comparison. It works. They will hear Bush's message and they will hear Kerry's message - straight and direct from the candidate - instead of 10 second sound bites on the news.
