Can anyone else not bring themselves to watch the debates?
The fact is that I know I'm voting for Kerry. Nothing will change that.

If I watch tonight I will just get all agitated and worked up watching Kerry be calm, cool, rational, and right about things but knowing he will be picked apart for even the slightest smallest thing he may say. While Jr. bumbles and fumbles and avoids. And then to have to listen to the endless pontificating from the pundit class about how well bush did and how much he connected with the people.

DOn't get me wrong, I'll read the commentary on here and on blogs and such. But if I try to watch the debates themselves I'll just find myself pacing, and yelling and storming out of the room and whatnot. I just can't handle another night like that.

1. Me too!
I can't watch them. Gore was chastised for the smallest misstatements in the world, but Bush was left alone after his gigantic lies.

2. I'm gonna try ...
but with faux controlling the transmission and knowing that the media will do as listed in item 9 of this week's Top Ten list, I'll be going crazy.

* will be praised for just showing up.

4. I can't do it.
Watching AND listening to that smirking murderous prick is beyond me. After reading about the format of the "debate" I don't have any interest.

3. I can't watch either.
Are they going to cover it on Comedy Central? Maybe I could watch that.

10. Comedy Central's show tonight will cover the debates.
What better way to capture the essence without having to wade through the cr@p.

6. I'm with you, but I'll tape them.
I don't want to miss something good, like * in a snit or speaking in tongues.

7. I will either take 2 aspirin for the headache, tie my hands down to keep
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 07:44 AM by candy331
from throwing things at my innocent TV, tape my mouth shut to keep from scaring the neighbors, and after debate drink/2 might be in order too if I omit the aspirin for headache, but watch firsthand I must.

8. It sounds like you won't have a problem with the debate itself...
But rather with the talking heads that follow, telling you what you just saw. And I'm with you on that...especially considering Faux is controlling the coverage.

Why not just tune in to the debate itself, and then shut off the TV before the propaganda hits the airwaves?

Me, I relish the chance to see * pummeled.

11. I will give it a try, but ...
... since the format is so restrictive, I've got more than a sneaking suspicion that each answer Ñ from Kerry as well as SmirkBoy Ñ will consist of nothing but recycled campaign speeches.

Lehrer will ask a question of *, and Ñ instead of answering Ñ the nitwit will launch into a canned, rehearsed, platitudinous, comic book version of events.

The first time this happens Ñ and I fully expect it to Ñ off goes the TV.

I'll just have to catch recaps here on DU.

12. I just feel the media will be their normal obnoxious selves -
I know I a voting for Kerry - I just hope the media doesn't sway this election as they always do - Kerry and Edwards are for the people - the media corporate world is for corporate interest only

the corporation continue to sell americans down the river

13. count me as one who will be unable to watch,
I was so nervous during Kerry's convention speech, I lit a cigarette after 9 months of not smoking. It took me weeks to quit again. I will tape it, and follow along in here, but I cannot watch it live.

It's not worth getting agitated over. I'll read what DUers have to say about the "debate".

15. I cannot watch Smirk. It makes me physically ill
I'll follow along on here tonight to see what's happening. I'm not exactly an undecided voter, so what the hell.
