"When I'm in Washington..."
Something I noticed running through the debate video again:

"I work with Director Mueller of the FBI; comes in my office when I'm in Washington every morning, talking about how to protect us. There's a lot of really good people working hard to do so."

Notice: "WHEN I'M IN WASHINGTON."

So what about all the time he spends on vacation? I thought he still got briefings in Crawford...guess I was wrong.

1. 'when I'm in Washington'...visions of my father laughing
hysterically. He started counting Bush's absences from Washington before anyone else was paying attention. He drove us all crazy until we finally realized he was right.

3. So all that vacation time before 9/11
He wasn't having those meeting like the last several Presidents have done. Maybe this is why nothing was done about the warnings?

4. Hey, be nice. It's hard work taking all that time off...
8/19/04:

A CBS News tally shows that President Bush is now making his 38th visit to his Prairie Chapel ranch since taking office. Add up the number of full or partial days he has been there - it comes out to 254.

That's about 20 percent of his presidency. Add in his time at Camp David and the Bush family home in Kennebunkport, Maine, and the percentage more than doubles. And the White House is self-conscious about it.
