i haven't felt this good for at least a month, but lets not get to confident either.

good job folks...lets keep it up for kerry/edwards, eye's on the prize.

Oct. 2 - With a solid majority of voters concluding that John Kerry outperformed George W. Bush in the first presidential debate on Thursday, the president’s lead in the race for the White House has vanished, according to the latest NEWSWEEK poll. In the first national telephone poll using a fresh sample, NEWSWEEK found the race now statistically tied among all registered voters, 47 percent of whom say they would vote for Kerry and 45 percent for George W. Bush in a three-way race.

4. Especially the Gallup "likely voters" category,
which drops anyone who didn't vote in the last election and doesn't know where the polling place will be November 2, 2004.

5. Not only has Bush's lead vanished
Kerry has actually pulled ahead, albeit by a small margin.

6. Read the link. Some very good news for Kerry. Bush approval down to 46%
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 06:35 PM by flpoljunkie
Kerry is more likeable than Bush, 47% to 41% and is tied on ability to handle international crisis at 51%. And Kerry is ahead with men, 47% to 45%!

There is more...

7. Freepers must be in tizzy...
Kerry won round one... if chimp somehow manages to even look better in either of the next two... freepers will be hailing from the rooftops that they have a winner.

9. Wow. that article is great.
"Although the subject of the draft was only briefly addressed during the debate, four in ten voters (38 percent) believe that because of the war in Iraq—which 50 percent of all voters now view as unnecessary—a second Bush administration would reinstate the draft."

and:

"But only 46 percent feel going to war was the right decision in the first place with just as many (45 percent) under the impression that the administration deliberately misled the nation into war with falsified evidence of weapons of mass destruction."

WOW. JUST WOW.

12. i think there is an important distinction here on newsweek poll:
please someone correct this if i am wrong in any way here:

the last newsweek poll showed bush up 52 to 41 BUT they also oversampled repubs by that margin. now in this latest poll, it says they sampled approx 2-3% more dems.

strange polling to heavily oversample one poll then a couple weeks later, do it that much differently.

im certain theres a swing to kerry, just dont know how much. when i see rasmussen and zogby (who have fairly similar numbers to one another), then perhaps we can get a better sense

13. thanks for the background!
I'm not much at figuring out the polls, so I really appreciate help. I will look at this news happily, but with a little more restraint thanks to the info.
