Bush & intelligence failures - Saddam's Nukes, Bin Laden's Strikes
Today's NY Times ran a story about the intelligence on WMD and how the White House came to believe that Saddam Hussein was trying to get nukes. It's a complicated issue, and a justifiably extremely long article. There's no clear answer.

However, after reading it, I can say that I wish the Bush administration had spent half as much time as they did on Iraq's nukes to the question of Al Qaeda's intentions. After all, never did the President receive anything from the intelligence community on Iraq half as explicit as the Aug. 6, 2001, PDB "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside USA." Yet they pretty much ignored Al Qaeda, despite all the warnings, while they obsessed on Saddam Hussein.

Keeping us safer? I report, you decide.
