I was busy campaigning, first for President, then for Vice President, in an attempt to unseat a man who has spent 40% of his presidency on vacation.
Same thing you're saying, basically.

4. He doesn't need a snazzy comeback. |
|
OK -- I realize that the mediawhores will keep pouncing, but it is ridiculous.
If Edwards was at every vote and meeting in the Senate, they would be all over him about not taking the campaign serious enough. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

5. His response was the BEST of the entire evening. |
|
He simply listed all of the outrageous votes of Cheney, and Cheney had NO response to them other than to mumble that Edwards' voting record "wasn't distinguished."
Cheney
voted against funding for Meals on Wheels for seniors voted against MLK, Jr. Day voted against Mandela voted against Head Start for poor children, a program that has been demonstrated to have payoffs that far exceed its costs
etc., etc., etc.
A VERY memorable exchange for most people watching.

6. The GOP has such a stranglehold on the Senate, the House, the Presidency |
|
and the courts, my votes were mere protest votes anyway. I decided the best course of action was to try and take back the Presidency so we could right the course of the ship of state.
You guys don't believe in the two party system, you shut us out and look where it got us. In debt. At war. More poverty.
Or something like that.

7. I know! Couldn't believe he didn't say it. |
|
He could have then said, it is clear that this president is afraid of hard work!
What a line it would have been!

8. Can't believe the Democrats didn't prepare that line for Edwards |
|
to use--knowing that they've already attacked K & E for missing so many votes this year.

Maybe he was a bit distracted trying to set the record straight on ever other lie Cheney threw out there.
