I'm watching the debate for the third time - Edwards keeps lookin' better |
|
We DUers are neurotic and sick political junkies. We get ourselves so worked up it's sick.
There's a reason why most the polls show that Edwards won. It was never going to be a total blow-out like last Thursday, but Edwards did a fine job.
Bottom line: Edwards won. I have no doubt.

2. An interesting note about the MSNBC panels tonight |
|
I didn't watch much of the MSNBC coverage but from what I gather by reading some diaries at KOS, there were 3 women on the panels over the course of the night. All thought that Edwards won. All of the men on the panels with the exception of Ron Reagan, felt that Cheney won.
Considering some important MLB games taking place at the same time as the debate, couldn't we surmise that more women probably saw it? And wouldn't that reflect in the polling for who won the debate?
Personally, I thought Edwards creamed him, but I relate much more to Ron Reagan than the other males on the panel. ;-)

6. Similar trend at my home tonight |
|
I had 11 friends watch the debate in Las Vegas, down from 19 last Thursday. Five of six women thought Edwards won, but three of five white men preferred Cheney.
Women, per usual, make up a majority of the undecideds in every poll I've seen, great news for Kerry.

Definitely Edwards was better and Cheney reaffirms his Mr. Potter personality.

5. I'm at the end of my 2nd viewing |
|
The content is exactly as I remembered. But without the nervousness of rooting for Edwards and against Cheney literally every sentence, it's glaring that Edwards' style and mannerisms and charm were much more vital than I noticed. He injected warm and effective anecdotes at least three times -- the little girl he defended, the Israeli pizza shop that was blown up by a suicide bomber, and his dad in front of the TV -- plus the positive mention of Cheney's lesbian daughter.

8. People were expecting Kerry-W repeat -- that was historic... |
|
and seldom, if ever, happens in politics. Edwards won, on the screen, with viewers, as a contrast to Dick Cheney -- polling and anecdotal evidence is accumulating.
