CONTACT FEINSTEIN NOW RE: ENDING BOLTON DEBATE
By Tom Curry

Updated: 11:18 a.m. ET May 26, 2005

WASHINGTON - In a last-ditch effort, two Democratic senators, Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, and Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, worked Thursday to round up the 41 votes needed to stop the nomination of John Bolton to be U.S. envoy to the United Nations.

...Dodd and Biden face an uphill battle to block the vote on Bolton. They need 41 senators to beat the cloture motion that would end debate and thus prevent a vote on the nomination. With all 55 Republicans likely to vote for cloture, Biden and Dodd must find support among their own party.

Democrats Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California and Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska each said in interviews late Wednesday they would vote with the Republicans to end debate.

Phone or Fax Senator Feinstein now at her Washington, D.C. office and express your opinion on this before the cloture motion!

1. I Called
Edited on Thu May-26-05 11:40 AM by AndyTiedye
The staffer at the other end had not heard anythng about Feinstein
supporting Bolton, and that voting for cloture wasn't the same thing.

I asserted that voting for cloture on Bolton was tantamout to voting
for Bolton, with only one Repubican opposing him.

He also said he had not heard that she would vote for cloture.
Where was this reported?

They obviously haven't gotten very many calls on this.

And I passed the message on to a coworker and family and they've all called too.
