Southern California Cindy Sheehan show of solidarity. (keep this kicked.)
Any LA area Duers interested in getting together in Los Angeles for a show of solidarity for Cindy Sheehan?

We could meet in front of KTLA on public property like the media protests on Saturdays, hold cnadles and signs and pass out flyers about this great patriot?

Please don't let this sink.

1. Lets do it -
I'd love to attend, but lets organize it for the weekend (I can never make the media protests since I am unable to get away from work during the week until 6 or 6:30 in the evening).

3. I was trying to schedule it around my meetings!
A bit selfish, huh?

I was thinking the evening would actually be great--- from say 4:40 or 5 until 7:30 ish... I don't know... just throwing it out there. The weekends usually hold a ton of meetings for different teach-ins and lib meetings... and Thursdays, for some reason.

Anyway, everyone weigh in... what do you guys all think? We want to catch a mess of people who will be driving by, not expecting to see us.

Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 07:58 PM by BeHereNow
I'm in LA and I'm game.
Can't go to Crawford and I REALLY wish I could,
So, a local DU event would suit me fine!

6. There are on-going peace vigils in L.A.
You might want to contact some of the peace vigils.
I know the Glendale peace vigil is on-going.

Here's a listing of peace vigils in Southern California:

BOOMERS & BEYOND
Still willing to protest for peace
By Ani Amirkhanian, News-Press and Leader

After congestive heart failure and arthritis in both knees landed her at an assisted-living facility, Glendale resident Julianne Spillman didn't stop protesting the war in Iraq.

The 76-year-old and her friends founded the Glendale Peace Vigil more than two years ago when the war broke out.

Spillman, who is a registered Green Party member, can be found on Brand Boulevard on Friday evenings on her scooter protesting against the war with protest signs. Her group hands out literature and materials about the peace vigil and invites all concerned citizens who want an end to the war to participate.

12. We're already doing weekly protests on Saturdays at CNN
We've got some members from Codepink and the Fairfax vigils and we moved from KTLA to CNN last weekend. CNN is in a great spot, shaded in the afternoon and lots of foot traffic from shopping areas nearby. CNN is not as sectioned off from the public as KTLA and KCBS were, either.

We'll be there every Saturday this month at 3:00, except for the 22nd we'll be there at 2:00 to support International Action's protest. We'll be there again this Saturday and I plan on making a new sign for Cindy.

Please consider joining us.
