CA Democrats seek new rules on political finances
http://www.sacbee.com/content/politics/story/13493731p-14334419c.html

Assembly Democrats unveiled a trio of bills Monday to expand political finance and disclosure laws in response to incidents involving Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Republicans blasted the bills as a silly attempt to embarrass the governor in the final days of this year's legislative session.

I think Ahnuld does a wonderful job of embarassing himself--we need stronger disclosure laws here

1. Better yet, why not push "clean elections" legislation

soon for the state. That would help just as much with this corporate corruption or more.

2. We certainly need better disclosure.
But all to often the political class simply discloses the bribes... er, "contributions... they took after they've already been reelected. They know no one will remember how crooked they were the previous election cycle when the next election runs around. A better solution to disclosure is to simply outlaw bribes, there I go again the technical term is "contribution" in excess of $100, and go for publicly financed elections. I'm tired of everyone with money buying the legislation they want while the common people get the short end of the stick.

The Republicans raise more special interest money so they're more guilty but the Democratic Party is hardly clean either. We might be able to get the Dem's state leadership to go along though since the Republicans out fund raise them by such a large margin.
