Puke position: Don't tax the rich, except for Native Americans. |
|
I don't understand the ads I've been seeing about Prop. 68.
If the rich are supposed to be exempt from taxes under a puke regime, why shouldn't casinos get the same exemption?
I think everybody should pay their fair share, INCLUDING the rich, but if you're going to let all the other rich people off, I don't think it is fair for Native Americans who belong to tribes with successful casino operations, to be the only wealthy Americans who get taxed.

1. I hate the "I didn't vote for this" ads |
|
in which actors playing ordinary citizens express bogus outrage over the success of the tribal casinos. Ridiculous.

3. This proposition isn't about taxing the Indians... |
|
It's an opportunity for non Indian gaming to get a toehold in California gaming. It's a ridiculous, thinly veiled proposition that says that if the Indians don't turn over 25% of their gaming profits the state will allow gaming (slots) at five horse racetracks and various cardrooms to enter into competition and eliminate the Indian gaming monopoly in California. Wonder why Magna Entertainment Corp, a Canadian based company, is supporting the proposition? Could it be they own three of the racetracks and are planning a 250 million dollar racetrack/casino/hotel in Solano county if it passes? Hmmmm
I'm voting NO on proposition 68 because the proposed new racetrack is less than two miles from my home.
Now, proposition 70 directly addresses taxing the Indian gaming corporations, but we know how much taxes corporations pay...damn, DU still needs a good sarcasm smilie thingy.

Government over business The individual over government The enviroment over everything And the Indians, give them whatever they want - The Pelican Brief - by John Grisham

4. If you want to slap Ahnuld down vote yes on 70 |
|
no on 68. Arnold opposes both. 68 is for non Indian casinos.70 will allow Indiams to wxpand and set their tax rate. Arnold has other plans, he wants the Indians to pay for his deficit and hold them up for a much higher tax. fuck him.

5. 70 is encredibly dangerous to the environment |
|
There is a very subtle flaw in 70 that should prevent its passage. While the proposition requires an environmental impact report for all new development, it effectively prohibits state and local governments from preventing development on Indian owned lands, making the EIR useless. Even if an EIR condemns a project on all counts, the casino builders will have the right to shrug their shoulders and build anyway while the rest of us look on in despair.
No proposition should be supported which allows ANYONE to flaunt building and pollution regulations.

6. that is how things are on the reservation |

Nothing changes. They are sovereign entities. I for on will not deny them.I hate arnold enough, as he will allow the expansion also , except he is trying to extort more money to pay his 17b deficit. The Indians will never have to follow the EIR of anyone, it just matters Arnold's plan or an Indian plan.
