1. Jerry's a good person. One of his opponents has some crooked friends. |
|
Some of the opponent's friends were involved in illegal campaign contribution problems during the presidential primary. Some of them threatened innocent Democrats who were supporting an opposing candidate. And the opponent himself acknowledged knowing all about the criminal activities. Don't want to get any Democrats in trouble but we don't need any crooks in office who will have to step down a little ways into their term and be replaced by whoever the governor at the time appoints. It's not just Democrats who know about the criminal activities. I'm voting for someone who is honest.
Jerry ought to have someone observe his opponents later this year to see if one of them is receiving undeclared illegal under-the-table contributions. My guess is the odds are about 100% that one of them will.

I feel any dem is better than the best republican. And.Jerry is one of the best Dems. I don't know what this vendetta you have against JB, But are you happy now that we have a puke SOS? You also had Shelley convicted. Politics is not pretty.

It's interesting how our best Democrats are enemy number one with some people.

8. is Jerry even a Democrat |
|
he left the party before he ran for mayor of Oakland the first time
and you talk to people in Oakland, they're not real happy with him
and I'm ecstatic that Shelley is on his way out of the SOS office. Maybe we can get someone with some integrity in there that won't hire the unqualified relatives of his donors and won't create a hostile work environment
but then again, the apologists don't care about that--they're more concerned with having someone with a D after their name in power, no matter how corrupt they are

But I'm not so sure about certain other people. Are you going to attack Al Gore next?

10. Shelley's big mistake? |
|
Not firing all of Jomes' appointees. and he paidfor it now thanks to Dems like Romero we have a puke in charge of a very important special election. He could have appointed the dude to one of those positions. As usual the Dems took a knife to a gunfight. Next time fire every puke possiblr, I don't care if they are the reincarnation of the Virgin Mary.

The problem is that the Democrats are too nice when the deal with the Republicans. The Republicans are waiting for a chance to kill.

15. What did he do wrong? I'm not that familiar wtih him, |
|
other than the fact that he's filed a lot of lawsuits against the Bush administration and won quite a few. Most are on environmental issues (to save our environment from bad Bush policies), but the latest is over the anti-abortion tactics taken by the WH to withhold funds from hospitals that practice abortion or even offer abortion counseling. So it surprises me a bit to hear of the Women's Caucus stance.

He also tried to have Kevin Cooper killed. He's not too popular.

17. Lockyer pissed off the women's caucus |
|
He gave a speech at one of the Women's events, and when he wasn't given the reception that he thought he deserved, he made some remark to effect of "what's the matter, do you all have PMS?".

19. Jerry's main opponent is a DLC slime case. |
|
The opponent's all talk but he won't discuss his positions on issues. He has nothing to show for himself but his willingness to stick it to his constituents. He laughed at the idea of anyone worrying about Arnold.
