6. While I haven't actually seen any of them speak... |
|
I like Steve Westly's resume. He seems like an electable candidate, at least on paper. None of the candidates are really well known to the average Californian, but at least with Westly you can say, hey, he's the guy who started Ebay. That would seem attractive to both Business class Republicans as well as Democrats.
Yes, Westly supported some of Schwarzenegger's policies last year. In a way that would make him more attractive to independents and anti-Schwarzenegger Republicans. He tried to work with him, but it didn't work out. Opposing Schwarzenegger every step of the way may appeal to a lot of Democrats, but it may not be enough to get Angelides elected.
That said, I've never seen any of them speak, so I can't really make an informed opinion yet. Other than anyone but Schwarzenegger.

7. Wesley kissed Arnold's rear end on TV. They should be married |

The two of them looked so compatible.

How exactly did Westly kiss Schwarzenegger's butt on TV? Not to defend him. Like I've said, I've never heard him speak. I do, however, think it would be nice to focus on the positive, rather than attack fellow Democrats.
From what I've heard, yes, he appeared in a few commercials endorsing Stem cell research, and maybe a couple of other bi-partisan propositions with the Governator. Which of these was "kissing his butt?" I haven't heard enough about Westly to know yet whether I'd vote for him in the primary or not. I just want the "most electable" candidate that can beat Arnold. If the best candidate to put up there in 2006 is Angelides, who I know a lot of Democrats like, then he has my vote. But if Westly has a broader range of support, then I don't think it should be held against him for attempting to work with a Republican Governor. At least he didn't vote for him in the recall... did he? Seriously, if you could let me know what policies of Schwarzenegger that Westly supported that you dissagree with, I'd like to know.

9. Right now my vote is for Angelides! |
|
If it looks like he can win, then I'm a happy camper!
However, I might be persuaded to vote for Diane Feinstein instead if:
a) she looked more likely to beat Arnold than Phil did in polling. b) we had the opportunity to get another Dem as a good prospect to replace DiFi in the Senate, which I'd *really* like to see happen!
I'd rather have two senators with a conscience in the Senate instead of one.
One way or the other, I want to vote for a candidate that will win this election. It's critical that we have a Dem get back in in 2006. Especially if Boxer decides that 2008 is a good time for her to run for Pres or VP slot (which could happen). I'd rather have a Dem pick her replacement in the Senate than Arny (especially if DiFi is still the other senator then!).
