Court case on behalf of Frye votes is dropped

"Closing an unforgettable chapter in San Diego's political history, supporters of Councilwoman Donna Frye dropped their court battle yesterday to overturn the results of the Nov. 2 mayoral election.

The move clears the way for the July 26 special election to replace Mayor Dick Murphy, who will resign July 15 from the job that a judge declared was his 3½ months ago.

Murphy defeated Frye, the write-in candidate who lost to Murphy by 2,108 votes. Frye will run in the upcoming race.

The move ended an epic legal battle over a race that generated national headlines, split the city and weakened Murphy's standing. The court fight, combined with the city's massive financial ills, was enough to chase him from his second term."

1. Come to Donna's kickoff rally tomorrow morning in Mission Bay...

Those who want to start supporting Donna Frye for the July 26th election, come out tomorrow morning to Mission Bay Park at 10 AM at the Visitor's Center (Clairemont Exit off of I-5) to help her kick off her campaign.
