Michael Moore to speak at UF
Any locals should come and bring a friend or ten, especially undecideds!

http://www.alligator.org/edit/news/issues/stories/040920moore.html

One of today’s most controversial political voices and filmmakers will speak at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Oct. 4.

Accent, UF’s speakers bureau, will bring Michael Moore, a liberal author and award-winning director of the documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

“He understands Florida is a swing state,” Accent Chairman David Buchalter said of Moore’s incentive to visit UF. “He’s a huge name now. He’s one of the most original and controversial political voices.”

Moore’s speech will be free and open to the public. It starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for students with their Gator 1 ID Cards and at 7 p.m. for all others.

2. I saw that a Cal university called off a Moore speach
...because they didn't want to look biased because they didn't have a Reich winger to counter with. I don't think UF does the same thing. ACCENT is good at getting speakers of varying viewpoints, so they can find somebody--anybody--from the right who will speak at UF, even if he or she commands 10% of the audience Moore will probably get.

I don't know if Alachua County is the best spot for Moore, since there aren't many swing voters here (even Bill McBride damn near carried 60% of the vote in 2002), but if we can get some people to learn the truth about Shrub, it will serve its purpose.

5. How bout the ref?
He's about as credible as most of Jeb's election's officials.

6. This will make the Chomsky appearance

look like a book club. There will be TONS of people there. Too bad that the O'Dome only holds 5-7k (I think). This may even rival Clinton's appearance at UF.
