Is Teresa Lepore Being Turned Out of Office??

In Palm Beach County, long-time Democratic Supervisor of Elections Teresa Lepore has been repeatedly villified (in my view unfairly)over the "butterfly ballot" in 2000. Ms Lepore was treated as the "wicked witch of the east" in 2000 for her ballot design which caused voters to mistakenly vote for Buchanan instead of Gore. In her defense, the butterfly ballot was designed to simplify voting and to keep the ballot on one page. She also submitted the ballot to county chairmen of both parties prior to the election and they did not object. Now is our anger over 2000 in Florida such that we turn out of office a long-standing Democrat and dedicated public servant??

3. She changed her political affilliation for the job

Ms LePore was a repug, but changed party in the running for her office (standard ops in Fla). I think she was in the employ of Bush family friend/ arms dealer Ognen Khashoggi, and a friend of JEB.

There were plenty of DU threads on her on the old DU.

4. LePore deserves tar and feathers, not mere unemployment.

Her behavior during and after the election was actively against the interest of Palm Beach voters.

12. There are other reasons

It's not just the 2000 election that's causing me to vote for Arthur Anderson. LePore has repeatedly opposed efforts to have a full paper trail. Anderson supports Democrats like Robert Wexler who are calling for these protective measures.
